Meds
Can anyone please advise me, in the UK when a psychiatrist does an assessment through the NHS, what is the procedure after the assessment? I had an assessment and I was told I had to be referred back to my GP for an ECG and blood tests. My eldest daughter was sent a list of drugs and what the side effects were. She was also referred back to the GP for an ECG which she has now had. My youngest daughter was assessed and on the same day they sent a prescription to our pharmacy for meds. She was not asked to have further tests and has not received her report from the assessment. I read that you should not take the meds if you have thyroid.issues, but my youngest was not told that or asked if she had thyroid problems, She has not taken the meds but we tried to follow it up. The psychiatrist who assessed her was only on the zoom assessment for an hour and it seems very rushed. After she queried this and the psychiatrist phoned her and literally blamed my daughter for not saying she had thyroid problems and that my daughter told her she wanted the meds. She really upset my daughter as she is the doctor and should have done her job properly and not twisted things. Since this telephone call I have received 4 text messages, one saying what the meds are for adhd and what the side effects are. Another text saying I don’t need an ECG or blood tests but I can go straight onto drugs. Another text saying let us know whether you want to go ahead with the meds. And the 4th one just asking me to reply. I don’t know if they have sent those to me for me or whether they should have been sent to my daughter or whether they are trying to cover their mistake. I don’t know if t should make a formal complaint or whether this is normal or what the protocol is, so if anyone can please let me know their experience that would be helpful
Week 3 (second time through 6-week program)
The Emotional Mastery worksheet and full report have been especially powerful and enlightening for me. I've been struggling recently with a potential job opportunity and this part landed especially hard for me in the report regarding that: you're not procrastinating on the script coverage application. You're avoiding the FEELING of potentially being rejected by an industry you love. Name it: "I'm avoiding the feeling of not being chosen." Yep. Felt that one. I needed to hear it. Onward with the application. It's about coming back even when things get hard.
Mushroom Coffee.. Yay or Nay?
Okay but seriously… who here drinks mushroom coffee? 🍄☕😂 I’m not trying to become one with the forest, but if it helps my ADHD brain focus without making me feel like a raccoon digging through trash at 2am… I’m listening. 🤣 I want REAL answers though......What positives have YOU actually noticed? More energy? Better focus? Less anxiety? Did you suddenly become a productive woodland creature?? I have also heard weight loss goes along with this???? And negatives? I have been drinking it for a VERY SHORT TIME...BUT I DO NOT PAY for the really expensive stuff. Wondering if the less expensive stuff works like the really expensive stuff...
Night gardening
After the heat of the day, I found myself in the garden at 10.30pm, just sitting with the dogs. It was so much cooler and it was lovely from the humid heat of the day. I decided to get my pruners and started cutting back the weeds. It felt so calming and without all the day time noise. I thought if I write this on here, you may all think I had lost the plot but Google tells me lots of people do it! so I am not so crazy. I do have floodlights and the only thing I would advise, if you try it, is get plenty of insect repellent on you as I didnt and am regretting that! But it could be a new way for me to chill after a hot day
