Today's Daily Style Stand-Up is what many might consider the epitome of classic, American style in a shirt: the OCBD. Today's item is inspired by my newest Criquet shirt - which happens to be part of today's OOTD - a 100% Pima cotton, pique knit, oxford button-down. It's not a traditional OCBD, but it fills the same spot in the closet... This is my first OCBD in well over a decade, for a couple of reasons - both of which are personal, negative connotations I have with this shirt. First, throughout various food-service jobs in high school and college, I was forced to wear an OCBD as part of my uniform. Since this shirt wasn't a staple in my wardrobe, I opted for the cheapest versions I could find. Obviously, this led to an undesirable experience. Second, throughout the 2000s - in this part of the country, at least - this style of shirt was most commonly worn by a particlar group of people with whom my impressions and experiences were less-than-desirable. As a result, I've never viewed this particular shirt in a positive light. This purchase is my attempt to slot it into my wardrobe and test whether it should become a larger part of it. So far, it's not bad. It'll probably never become a go-to piece for me, but it definitely has a slot available... As a reminder, there are only two rules: - Answer the three questions. - Human answers only. (No AI responses.) The second rule is because I believe the community is best served by reading what actual humans in this actual community actually think. And, yes, there are too many words in that sentence with actual as the root... The first rule is to keep things simple and easy to follow. Just answer the following three questions: - Is this item (perhaps in a different color or different fabric) already in my closet? - What is one way I would style this item with things currently in my closet? - What is one thing not currently in my closet I would buy to style with this item?

My Environmental Scientist son and Environmental Scientist daughter-in-law presented at our church today. Each has a MS and Bs in that field. They were reviewing a book by Dr Sara Richter called Stewards of Eden This Harvard phD had a book so mesmerizing I would wake up at 2:00 just to read it. I could not have been more proud of the kids. Wore my charcoal brown MTM suit windowpane CT shirt, Woven silk Robert Talbott Green Tie, AE shell cordovan wingtips Orvis field watch. My wife and my kids went out behind the church 20 acres to dig up Milk weed (the favorite plant for Monarch butterfly’s). The 100th Eagle Scout from our troop built a butterfly garden back in 2019 and the milk weed that spreads beyond the garden into the lawn gets mowed. So we are relocating those plants that escaped the garden to sunny spots input own respective yards. Naturally we did it in my suit and the wife’s dress. We only get one planet.
