Friday Night Massacre
I made the switch from sock pandemonium to sock nirvana. I trimmed away 46 pairs of socks to leave almost nothing but OTC and some very low rise socks to wear with shorts. The hit on my outfit combinations was massive. I went from 39 sextillion to 12 sextillion, just from the removal of socks! Granted, it was a lot. I set them aside for my boys to eventually take them on as nearly all were purchased in the last 2 years.

@Darren Poesel Actually, none. I felt like Michelangelo when sculpting: I just removed the unnecessary pieces from my sock collection to reveal the image already in my mind.

@Allan Chiang Agreed regarding OTC. Panthrella is a brand of OTC socks?
Start Thinking For Yourself
LThe majority of people have lost the ability to think for themselves. If you don't think for yourself, someone else will do it for you. ...And they'll always do it to their advantage. Political parties don't love you. Politicians don't love you. They love your vote. They love your obedience. They love when you fight your neighbors on command for their name. They love your unwavering loyalty. ...But the second you start asking questions, you're the problem. Stop putting your loyalty behind a person or party and start standing firm in what's right according to the values and principles you believe in. Be loyal to the mission of building this country into what it could be. Not some people in suits who smile on your face and stab us in the back. Truth doesn't come in colors. It doesn't wear a suit or fly a flag. It shows up when you have the balls to look for it… Speak it... Demand it... …and stand for it. Stop blindly following people who don’t give a fuck about you. Start following principles. Stop following crowds of brainwashed masses. Follow conviction. Stop allowing yourself to be manipulated by labeling yourself anything other than a citizen who wants the best for this country. Think for yourself or get played by people who never stop thinking about themselves. ~ Andy Frisella

Ironically, this has often been why Democrats are seemingly disorganized. They press the aforementioned mindset more, even in politician to politician relationships. Republicans in the 90s were more uniform (aligned, if you prefer) on how to vote in congress whereas Democrats had less alignment given their value on independent consideration. This is not meant to be political but is based on data. I certainly have political thoughts on the differences, but my point above was to show that our systems value conformity, not just the politicians. The very independent states of Maine and Alaska have two senators that claim to challenge their own party but their voting record indicates they do not. This benefits their own power and that of their party because conformity is preferred in the systems of congress.

CW* = Critiques welcome - always! Happy Juneteenth. Today's outfit is called.... What Shades of Blue and White were the Smurfs again? Interesting mix of five blues (socks, slacks, jacket, vest, watch) and four whites (shirt, tie, cufflinks, and pocket square), accented by gold and mid brown accents. • Odd Jacket — DOJ-010 (Ralph Lauren): A navy single-breasted wool blazer from Ralph Lauren with polished rope shoulders and brass buttons. The subtle sheen and high armholes give it a refined silhouette that bridges business formal and smart professional—perfect for video calls and in-person meetings. • Slacks — SL-005 (Santorelli): Italian blue textured Santorelli slacks with a classic cuffed hem and belt anchors. The blue tone creates intentional harmony with the navy jacket while adding visual depth and interest below the frame. • Vest — VWC-013 (Ralph Lauren): A powder blue linen Hitchcock-style vest by Ralph Lauren with cream buttons and a brass rear buckle. Moderately light in weight—ideal for layering on a warm California day while maintaining a put-together appearance on camera. • Shirt — DS-048 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A non-iron ivory twill dress shirt from Charles Tyrwhitt with French cuffs and a classic point collar. The 2-ply cotton construction delivers a soft hand with excellent stitch density—refined enough for board meetings while requiring minimal maintenance. • Undershirt — US-002 (Ralph Lauren Polo): A classic white crew neck cotton undershirt—soft, breathable, and invisible beneath the opaque dress shirt. Reliable workhorse that keeps the foundation clean. • Tie — NT-056 (Rampley & Co): An ecru wool-cashmere knitted tie from Rampley & Co. The matte texture and soft-cornered blade offer visual contrast to the navy jacket without competing for attention. Best tied in a relaxed Four-in-Hand—perfect for business casual video days. Anyone who says business wear is not comfortable has never felt this tie. It most be the softest thing I have ever felt... other than my wife.

@Stephen Horner Aye, makes sense and agreed with letting the colors play out to see how it worked. Honestly, I was more worried about the ecru tie on an ivory shirt, but the blue all around it helped give enough contrast.

@Chad Smith lol - true! That said, it’s like realizing that you’re no longer Bond but, more fittingly, M.
Juneteenth musings
Though Juneteenth did not magically make equality happen, it was an important step, and there is a lesson there. The staircase to equality must be constructed, and one must constantly work on it. Lincoln did not live to see the legislation that followed the 13th amendment, martin luther king did not live to see the first African-American president, but nevertheless both were instrumental to Building that staircase. Our lives are finite, but our legacies are not. Help build that staircase.
