There are parts of my job that can become routine—but every now and then, you get an experience that reminds you why you signed up in the first place. Last week, I had the opportunity to work a protection detail for the Secretary of the Navy. As a former Marine, that carried a little extra meaning for me, given the Corps falls under the Department of the Navy. It was one of those rare, full-circle moments—and likely a once-in-a-career experience. To top it off, one of the Troopers in the motorcade told me I had the best-looking suit in the group. I’ll take that as a win. Grateful for the opportunity, the people I got to work alongside, and the reminder that even in a routine job, there are still moments that stand out.

Post Paddy Partytime Perched Panama. After a season of gigs time to get back to the mundane. Cleaning the house all day now running over to see pop then a get together with some key folks in the band to work on something, I dressed summer style. My thermometer in the direct sun is reading close to100 degrees. Went with some old Harold’s cargo shorts, an Orvis Batik shirt that had a frayed collar before I had my tailor flip them over. I thought what the heck and grabbed the Panama hat I recently got in Aruba (it’s from Ecuador). Blue Topsiders and Darn Tough socks finished it off
