This is my first wear from a 3ml decant of this oud fragrance. I'm enjoying oud when it's blended into the right fragrances, and Haltane was a very nice surprise. I expected something dark, warm and spicy, but instead I got aromatic, and on the fresh side. It opens with a light chemical smell attached to the oud, but that quickly fades, allowing some aromatic lavender & clary sage, smooth saffron, some gentle sweetness to blend with the oud and other woods. At 45 min, all the rough edges and points have been polished off, and Haltane is fresh, upbeat, and medium toned, not dark or heavy. It is a beautiful, smooth, refined oud fragrance, enhanced by floral brightness and sweetness, and supported by other medium woods and a subtle leather note. At 1.5 hours sillage is moderate, turning mild. A soft creamy sweetness weaves itself into the notes, and sillage remains steady-mild to about the 5 hr mark. I undersprayed with the small atomizer, so I'll apply more on the next wear, but this is excellent! Very pleasant to my nose, superbly put together, and I can't get over the fresh tone of the fragrance. Even my wife, who is not an oud fan, actually likes it lol. I have a sample of Oud for Greatness, that I'll get into soon, and I'm curious to see how these two compare and contrast. Keep smelling great brothers!

My cousin passed away and I’m wondering if it’s respectful or not to wear a fragrance to the funeral service. If I wear anything at all, it will be something muted and dark, nothing bright or festive. What do you guys think? Any recommendations?
