SOTD: Acqua di Giò EDT by Armani 21/06/2026
I’ll start by saying aquatics were never really my thing, but lately with the warmer weather, I’ve found myself appreciating this style more, Another scorcher here for fathers day, so a day out with the kids has me reaching for this edt again. Acqua di Giò has definitely grown on me. It’s widely considered the granddad of the aromatic aquatic genre, launched back in 1996 and composed by legendary perfumer Alberto Morillas. The whole idea behind it was inspired by the raw, sunbaked landscape of Pantelleria, that rugged Mediterranean island between Sicily and Tunisia. I picked up the big 200ml bottle for a bargain, and being an EDT, I knew I could be generous with sprays without overdoing it. This original formula is really well balanced, no sharp edges or cheap sweetness. It opens bright and zesty with Calabrian bergamot, neroli, and green tangerine — instantly fresh and energising. After 15–20 minutes, that citrus fades back and the heart comes through: its famous marine accord, mixed with soft jasmine and freesia, plus a touch of rosemary and nutmeg that stops it from feeling flat. That salty, sea-air vibe is exactly what defines it. By the time it settles fully, you’re left with a dry-down of cedarwood, patchouli, white musk, and a hint of oakmoss — just enough warmth and earthiness to stop it from feeling too thin or soapy. Performance-wise, it does exactly what it promises for an EDT. Projection is moderate and the sillage is polite — never cloying, never annoying to people nearby, which makes it ideal for offices or busy spaces. On skin, you’ll get around 3–4 hours before it softens to a skin scent; if you want it going all day, a quick top-up at lunchtime is needed. It shines best in spring and summer, especially when it’s warm — the heat brings out those citrus and marine notes perfectly. For me, it’s the ultimate no-fuss daytime scent: great for walks, days out with the kids, work, or just feeling clean and put-together when the weather’s hot. My Rating 7/10

Boss Bottled Parfum by Hugo Boss
Gave this one a second wear today, and I’m enjoying it, very masculine and well balanced of a fragrance.

My favorites are Boss Bottled Absolu, a masterpiece. Then after that, Boss Bottled Elixir and the Boss Bottled Triumph Elixir, after that, nothing. This is ok, but nothing like the others. To me, this is classy and mature, but it sits closer to designer office/evening wear. Good scent, just not as exciting.

Gentlemen, drop your favorite scents purely based on bottle design. Disregard the scent, I would love to see some crazy bottle designs from everyones collection!

Let’s Talk Velixir…
So as you know social media tends to hype up the newest dupe fragrances out there, saying it’s the closest “1:1 i’ve ever smelled” and whatnot, and this month’s edition is the indonesian house: Velixir. Now i can’t deny presentation looks spectacular. Attractive designs and packaging, but as we all know the most important is the juice. So asking all of you, if any of you have had the opportunity to try these, what do you think? Is it truly as good as they say it is? Or just another marketing gag and a sham?

@The Rain Society if you do Alexandria they are better at heavier fragrances. Especially winter and fall stuff like Royal Oud /Royalty or Les sable roses/ ombré rose or spiritueuse double vanilla /Vanille Doree plum Japanois / Forbidden Plum etc I have these and more. Anything summer or spring I go Montagne

@The Rain Society Vanille Doree is a good vanilla clone, but SDV smells like real Guerlain luxury. Alexandria smells more direct and sweet; Guerlain smells deeper, smoother, boozier, and more natural. Ombre Rose gives you the LV rose-oud vibe, but Les Sables Roses smells smoother, cleaner, richer, and more luxurious. Alexandria may be stronger for the money, but LV smells more finished. Vanille Doree is the better casual buy. It gives you a sweet boozy vanilla vibe without Guerlain money, but it is not as classy as SDV. Ombre Rose is the better value play because LV is expensive, but Les Sables Roses still smells more premium. No clone is 1 to 1, but in the air, these get you close enough to enjoy the DNA without feeling like you got robbed. The OGs win under the microscope, but Alexandria wins on value. And great value for a clone!!!
