SOTD: Boss Bottled Beyond by Hugo Boss 07/11/2026
I eventually picked this one up after a long wait, it was exclusive at the Duty free forever But it finally hit the shelves. So was it worth the hype? Simply put, Beyond takes the structure of the OG scent & elevates it with a prominent, soft leather note & a vibrant ginger opening. It’s an excellent option if you enjoy fresh-spicy fragrances but are looking for a deeper, more refined masculine edge. The opening starts with a strong, energetic burst of fresh, spicy Ginger & a Manioc Accord, (derived from cassava/yucca), which can provide a subtle, almost creamy or slightly sweet nuance to the freshness. As it transitions, you will find that eather note, which is the defining characteristic of this fragrance. It's not a harsh, animalic leather, but a clean, refined suede or soft leather that blends with a touch of saffron for a velvety, spicy texture. The dry-down settles into a warm, woody, and slightly sweet base. Cedarwood anchors the leather, giving it structure, while a hint of vanilla or sweet woods softens the edge, making the trail sophisticated & inviting. This is a more mature, mysterious & sophisticated older brother to the classic Boss Bottled EDT. It projects confidence and refinement. Whilst the leather makes it suitable for evening wear, the ginger and fresh aspects prevent it from being too heavy, making it surprisingly versatile for professional settings, daytime, or evening events. I'm getting about 6 hrs on my skin. It has a strong, noticeable projection for the first 2-3 hours, making a confident statement without being overwhelming. After that, it settles closer to the skin as an elegant scent bubble. So whilst it ain't the best in the range, it does try to go down a different path which is good to see, and it is actually a rather enjoyable scent. I like this one. My Rating: 7/10 Scent: 2 Longevity: 2 Sillage: 2 Y/N: 1

Slay the Scent: Intense Addiction by French Avenue
Intense Addiction by French Avenue is an Oriental Vanilla fragrance that has become popular within the niche inspired community. Released in early 2025 as part of the French Avenue lineup (a subsidiary of Fragrance World), the scent is a descent interpretation of Initio Parfums Privés' Addictive Vibration. It is marketed primarily as a feminine leaning or unisex fragrance that focuses on the honeyed warmth & delicate florals, but I quite like it and would easily wear this one. It's in the same vein as Ahmed Al Maghridi's Marj. The fragrance opens with a vibrant, airy bouquet, featuring the soft, powdery sweetness of apple blossom paired with a zesty touch of orange. As the initial brightness settles, the heart transitions into a rich, gourmand territory where the exotic elegance of orchid meets a creamy, prominent vanilla. This middle stage is where the addictive quality truly begins to surface, bridging the gap between floral freshness & edible sweetness. The dry down is deep and comforting, dominated by a luxurious wild honey note and a clean, sensual musk that grounds the composition, leaving a lingering trail. In terms of performance, Intense Addiction offers solid longevity, typically lasting between 6 hours, though it can endure even longer when applied to clothing. Its projection is moderate, it creates an intimate scent bubble rather than an overwhelming sillage, making it a polite powerhouse that draws people in rather than filling a room aggressively. Because of its dense honey and vanilla profile, it is best suited for the cooler months of autumn and winter, though its floral top notes allow it to work beautifully during crisp spring days. It is an ideal choice for evening wear, date nights, or formal occasions where a touch of sensual, refined sweetness is desired. My Rating 6.5/10 Scent 2 Longevity 2 Sillage 1.5 Y/N 1

Slay the Scent:  Pisa by Lattafa
Pisa by Lattafa that officially joined the house’s collection in early 2024. It's actually part of their prestigious Pride line, and not the niche emerati as the bottle would lead you too believe. Pisa is a Citrus Aromatic fragrance. As always the perfumer behind the scent is often kept under the Lattafa house umbrella, the fragrance has a clean, architectural inspiration, echoing the elegance of its Italian namesake. It begins with a vibrant opening, characterized by a zesty trio of mandarin, lemon, and bergamot. It's more bitter than sweet, I'm not a fan. As the sharp citrus edges begin to soften, the heart transitions into a singular, prominent note of cedarwood. This middle phase provides a dry, aromatic backbone that grounds the zest of the top notes with a sense of masculine strength and structure. Finally, the dry down settles into a warm and creamy foundation of sandalwood and amber. The sandalwood lends a smooth, velvety texture to the skin, while the amber provides a resinous warmth that ensures the fragrance remains sophisticated and inviting long after the initial spray. Pisa, for a citrus-dominant scent, performs ok, you can expect 4hrs on skin, with a moderate projection. It creates a scent bubble that is noticeable to those nearby without becoming overwhelming or cloying. Because of its bright, airy opening and warm woody base, it is exceptionally versatile across the seasons. To be honest if but this just for the bottle, it's a showpiece. Don't like the opening, but the drydown is rather good My Rating 5/10 Scent 1.5 Longevity 1.5 Sillage 1.5 Y/N .5

Ask Yourself
Is it an addiction…? Answering for myself, I can’t walk out of my house without something and my body feels off without anything on. How about you? Let’s discuss.

What Happens to the Collection When We’re Gone?
Hey guys, Joe A. here with another one for ya’! Here’s a fragrance topic we probably don’t talk about enough, mostly because it feels a little weird, a little morbid and maybe a little too real for a hobby built around smelling good while we’re still above ground. But let’s be honest, some of us have collections that are no longer just “a few bottles on a shelf.” We’ve got full-blown fragrance libraries, emotional time capsules, scent memories, discontinued gems, blind-buy regrets and enough juice to keep a small village (okay, okay a LARGE village...) smelling dangerous for the next decade. So here’s the question: what’s the plan for your fragrance collection after you die? Do your loved ones know what any of it is worth? Would they know the difference between a $25 cheapie and a discontinued unicorn? Are they keeping a few bottles that remind them of you? Selling the valuable ones? Giving them to friends in the hobby? Donating them? Or is Uncle Larry about to inherit your entire Amouage shelf and use Reflection Man as bathroom spray because “it smells clean”? For me, this is one of those topics where the humor helps soften the truth. Our collections are more than bottles. They represent phases of life, memories, moods, trips, milestones, mistakes and moments. Some bottles are just stuff. Others are little glass monuments to who we were, what we loved and how we wanted to be remembered when we walked into a room. What say you, guys? Have you ever thought about what happens to your fragrance collection when you’re gone? Would you want your family to keep certain bottles, sell them, pass them down, or hand them off to someone in the community who would appreciate them? And the anti-question: which bottle in your collection would you absolutely haunt somebody over if they wasted it as room spray?Love to hear from ya’!

My three kids have already started their own collections, Dylan is Zara Gold and Dylan Blue, Ava is all Miss Dior and Ryan he's working through my Boss Bottled collection already. I pass on bottles that no longer entertain me. Eventually they will inherit the lot, thats if they leave any for me
