So I was working the Ed Sheeran concert in Denver last night and it was pretty hot even though we got a bit of rain. Funny enough, I've never been a fan of gin or juniper berries and even though it garners quite a bit of compliments, D&G light blue isn't my favorite. Then I purchased a decant of Eau GivreĂŠ and it was life changing! It's a photorealistic citron with juniper and Timut pepper with a woody mineralic base. Only lasts 4-5 hours on my skin, so I had to reapply. Outstanding fragrance either way!! Thoughts?

Smell isn't the only sense we use with fragrances.
I just read the post by @Jon Jacobs about caps and atomizers and it got me thinking. If you think about it, even in a hobby where the sense of smell is primary, our other senses come into play also. We use sight (looking at the box and bottle) and touch (holding the bottle, pulling off the cap and spraying) before we even use our sense of smell which does affect our perception of the fragrance as a whole. Consciously or unconsciously, presentation is a factor in the way we judge something and the presentation is usually the first thing that is noticed, even before the first sniff.
