Talk, talk, talk-talk-talk! (re-up'd)
Hey guys, Joe A. here with another one for ya’! Lemme ask y’all something… is ā€œFragTalkā€ helping the hobby, or is it slowly turning the whole thing into a loud, overhyped circus where everybody’s chasing the same five buzzwords? Beast mode. Compliment puller. Nuclear. Panty dropper. Blind buy worthy. Somewhere along the way, parts of this hobby started feeling less like appreciation and more like a fantasy football draft for fragrance addicts. So today, I’m throwin’ out a few hard truths that might ruffle a few atomizers! First up, the beast mode obsession is absolutely costing people money. Brands know good and well that if they slap ā€œExtraitā€ or ā€œElixirā€ on a bottle, crank up the loud woods, musks and ambroxan, folks will line up like it’s the second coming of scent. And sure, performance matters… but since when did subtlety become a crime? Not every fragrance needs to last 19 hours, kick down the door and announce itself like a pro wrestler entering WrestleMania. Sometimes the beauty is in the nuance, not in choking out your coworkers by lunch! Then there’s the paper strip nonsense. Some folks smell the opening for thirty seconds at the mall and walk out with a full bottle like they just found their signature scent. Nah, brother, that’s not the fragrance, that’s the handshake. The drydown is the real conversation. If it hasn’t sat on your skin for a few hours, gone through the heat, settled into the base and shown you what it’s really about, then all you bought was the best behavior version of that scent. That’s fragrance speed dating, not a relationship!! And while we’re here, let’s be honest about something else: buying is not the hobby. Learning, smelling, comparing, wearing, experiencing and understanding fragrance… that’s the hobby. Constantly hitting ā€œadd to cartā€ every time TikTok starts foaming at the mouth over a new release? That’s just shopping with a fancy excuse. If you’ve got enough juice on your shelf to outlive your mortgage (guilty!!), it might be time to ask whether you love fragrance… or just love the rush of the next package hitting the porch!

What classic fragrances do you have in your collections?
I've noticed a lot of members here posting classic fragrances in SOTD the past couple of days. This has me wondering what classic frags do all of you have in your collections? I'll start, it's only a few but these hold a place in my memories and I had to have them - - Drakkar Noir - Davidoff Cool Water - Dior Fahrenheit - Polo Green - Burberry Touch - Jovan Musk - I don't have this but I'm thinking of picking this up. Someone gifted this to me when i was 11 or 12 I think and I had the bottle for years. The bottle is way different from what I remember and am wondering if it smells the same.

SOTD: Acqua di Giò Profondo edp by Giorgio Armani 24/04/2026
Profondo is. Best described as in intense/modern update to the original 1996 classic. Again the legendary Alberto Morillas, creator of the og is the nose responsible for this. Released in 2020 it's an Aromatic/Aquatic FougĆØre. Said to mimic the feeling of diving into the dark blue parts of the ocean. It moves away from the sunny, citrusy beach vibe of the original, towards a more mineral, metallic, cold marine vibe It opens with an invigorating blend of green mandarin & bergamot, which is joined by that marine note. There's also that subtle hint of saltiness that adds to the oceanic vibe, thanks to a synthetic molecule known as Aquazone. As the initial citrus fades, the heart introduces an aromatic freshness with rosemary, lavender, cypress & Mastic (Lentisque). This gives it a mildly herbal vibe & builds on the greeness established in the top by the mandarin. The dry down is where Profondo truly distinguishes itself. It features a prominent mineral accord that gives it a unique salty, almost stony texture, along with the classic masculine combination of musk & patchouli. A touch of amber provides warmth and a subtle sweetness. Performance wise, you get a good 6hrs on skin. With a moderate projection, it will create a nice bubble around you for the first 2 hours before settling into a consistent, masculine scent trail. It is not overpowering, making it very office-friendly. Ideal for Spring & Summer. It thrives in the heat where the aquatic notes can really breath, but it's also versatile enough to work as a daily wear, work or even evening wear. My Rating 7.5 Scent 2.5 Longevity 2 Sillage 2 Y/N 1
