SOTD - # is for 19-69 Higher Peace
Starting on my challenge to wear a sample fragrance every day starting with each letter of the alphabet. To kick it off, I've started with 19-69 Higher Peace. 19-69 is an Indie House based in Italy that focuses on scent profiles that reflect subversive counter culture and reference controversial artists, taboo themes, and infamous acts of rebellion revealed through art. According to the designer, "The scent ‘Higher Peace’ is influenced by the Merry Pranksters and the retired schoolbus Furthur which enlightened America during the 1960s. It’s about never stop learning. Letting your guard down, trying to understand each other and with that traveling through unknown waters. It is also a statement of peace, inspired by the values of Bagism, a term created by Lennon and Ono in 1969. The intent of Bagism is avoiding prejudice and stereotyping by not judging others on the basis of skin color, gender, sexuality, age or other." That's nice. Scent: 7.5 I get a clean, laundry scent that smells very fresh and sharp. It's a little metallic with green notes. The hemp that's listed in the notes is present, but not overpowering. I think it adds to the green-ness and that metallic sense, but it doesn't venture into skunky, musky territory. Overall, it's very nice and pleasant. Performance: 8.0 Projection is pretty average. It starts out fairly close and begins to gain steam after an hour or two as the body begins to warm it up. Then it radiates and creates a nice scent bubble that stays close, but leaves a discernible trail. Overall I get about 8 hours total Presentation: 9.0 I just got a 2mL sample, but I have had the opportunity to see the larger bottle presentation up close in the store. The bottles are clean and sleek with magnetic caps. I think the names and designs tell a very specific story, and the scent ties in very well to what the designer is trying to convey. The ingredients feel very well blended and excellent quality. Perceived Value: 8.0 Available in 10mL ($30), 30mL ($85), and 100mL ($195) sizes. I wasn't able to find it at discounters. For an indie-niche house, this pricing is quite reasonable.
