Evening Smells
Gents, Color me intrigued. This is the 3rd Givenchy I’ve tried now (my first night with this one) and damn I’m impressed. I’m not sure if the whole Gentleman line fits this bill (I have more samples coming this week), but for a fall/winter/date night fragrance…they just keep hitting the mark. I’ve tried the Intense EDT and Privee (definitely a favorite) and they don’t lose right now. I love the sharp, masculine woodiness that comes out. While I’m not against sweet, there is a difference between a mature sweetness and a playful sweetness and this comes across very mature. The woodiness, cacao and pepper are really giving this kind of a sexy incense smell. Not like something at a hippy store, but something more elevated. Man - I can’t wait to try the rest of the line because I’m looking for some solid starting blocks for my fall/winter lineup and especially some darker/deeper/mature frags for date night and I’m loving what Givenchy is selling right now. Have a hell of an evening gents 💪🏽

Reserve Prive is one of their best, as is Ambre. Givenchy has been putting out a lot of really good ones in their Gentleman line that don't get a lot of hype but are all really well done.

@Eric Jones agreed. My only knock is on the performance as most of these don’t last very long, but they don’t have to and they aren’t designed to. They are very much mature fragrances that smell refined and … gentlemanly. I think they are perfect for that.

Givenchy / Gentleman Eau de Parfum Boisée — I just don’t get the haters on this, I get a good 4-5 hours before it becomes a skin scent. This isn’t ment to be a room-filler or projection beast, it’s just a classy fragrance that you can dress up or down as you see fit.

I agree. I only get a few hours out of it but not everything has to be beast mode.

@Raymond Reeves I quote it all the time. The first time my sister took me skiing in Colorado I couldn’t help myself. “Do you know the street value of the top of this miuntain?!!” One of the best movies of all time

@Steve Louis it’s a bit dated now but it’s worth watching.
#NoBuySept - Challenge for Day 25/30
---Choose a designer classic over a niche choice.--- What say you, Gents? As my nose developed, I naturally moved away from designers and more toward niche and indie offerings. But that's truly a disservice, there's many designers that are just as good, if not better than many niche out there! Which designer brand are you wearing today? What designer frag is as good as, if not superior than, niche? Post here or in the SOTD. Love to hear from ya'!

@Renato Carotti I would agree with that

Tom Ford Black Orchid EDP and now the new Reserve are two of the best perfumes I’ve ever smelled. I’ve also become a fan of Mauboussin Star and Ferragamo EDT, which I am wearing today.

I have a top 30, LOL, but out of those, the top 2 would be Byredo Gypsy Water, and Tom Ford Black Orchid EDP.
