Another day another Heirloom! Interacting with Time!! I've worn this one before and have told the Story of my "Great Cousin" who came over after the war to start a life in America. He was a doctor, and was falsely labeled a communist and lost his medical license. 😔. He didn't let that define him and built a wonderful life for himself. He was much older when I was older by the time I was old enough to remember our time together ate the holidays. I remember my father moved into his apartment with him to help care for him as he was ailing and up until his passing. He left my father this watch, which he wore proudly, and when my father passed this watch in his collection was specifically left to me. I wear it proudly and always remember the kindness of my cousin as I was a young child, as well as remembering how much he must have meant to my father as well. It is things like this that continue to remind me to be intentional and take great care of the heirlooms that have been entrusted to me. It is also a big part of my process of "Interacting with Time". I enjoy looking at it, I pause as I am winding it and feeling the individual clicks and enjoying the tactile feel while setting it. A Dollar for your thoughts?? It used to be a penny, but with inflation it must be a dollar now!! 😜 This is my Heirloom Corum Collection Gold Coin Watch! I watched my father purchase this from a store that was going out of business. I was about 17 at the time. I was always fascinated by it and loved looking at it but also loved watching my father wear it. For him this watch was not dressy enough for a suit, but paired well with Kahki's and a button down on the weekends. During this challenge, I've been able to wear and show off some of my heirlooms that mean the world to me and this is one. While my father has been gone a long time, wearing this one today reminds me of "Sunday Dinners" as he would come to our home every Sunday and we would sit, talk, have a drink and a few laughs with my wife and kids. I will wear this one proudly in honor of my "Dad". Hope you all have a great Sunday!
