Next week will mark three years in cancer recovery treatments. As my Oncologist so eloquently stated, "I'm walking out of the woods now, not in." The Dufa has been with me since the 1st chemo treatment on January 23, 2023 reminding me "that time passes and this will to." Thank you to everyone who has supported me, my wife, and my family on this journey. It has been enormously appreciated. Have a magnificent Monday.

Monterey Watch Company - Commodore

Flying out today, so you already know what’s on the wrist. The question is…what other 3 watches am I bringing?

After traveling this weekend to visit my 88yr old Uncle (my fathers brother) for his birthday, I have been feeling very nostalgic or maybe more nostalgic than normal! 😎 I woke up this morning thinking about my father. He’s been gone for coming in up on 14yrs, and he lived quite the life! As you all know I’m a sucker for heirlooms and their stories, so here we go! Today I am wearing my father’s dive watch. My father was a very active underwater diver when I was a child. He would “go over the wall” at least once a year on a different diving trip. He was also a published underwater photographer even though photography wasn’t his day job. He was an “All in” kind of guy and I’m sure thats where i get it from. I remember this watch in so many ways, but probably the most vivid memories are when I was about 8-10 yrs old and I wanted to go diving but was obviously too young, I remember my father working with the owner of the dive resort we were staying at to rig up a pony tank for me to “dive” with right off the beach! It was the coolest thing I had ever done at that point and my father was wearing this watch while he “hooked me up” to all of the gear! I also remember wen I was turning 13 my father told me I was legally old enough to get certified as a diver if I wanted, I jumped at the chance and shortly after my 13th birthday I was both Naui and Padi certified as a Basic Scuba diver. When I took my open water exam, my father was in the water watching while wearing this watch!! 😎 When he passed he left me this watch that was non running, I immediately sent it back to Tag Heuer to get repaired. It took almost 2 yrs and more money than the watch is worth to most people, but it is priceless to me, so it was worth every penny! I seldom wear it as I want to keep it intact, but today seemed like a great day to break it out. I keep it exactly as my father last wore it and so the bracelet is a bit loose, but this just gives me another connection to my father. So here is the Heuer “Orange Boy”
