OOTD-CW - 11 June 2026
Yesterday's festivities went very well, though a bit more poignant that I expected. Logan started his day by going back to his elementary school (k-5 for him), along with many of his classmates from the same school and grade. This is a way of trying to motivate the 5th grade class on their continued journey. As Logan transferred to a different high school to enroll in an advanced program with HS/college classes mixed, it meant leaving many friends behind. While they all stayed in the same area, not seeing folks on a daily basis who you enjoyed seeing for K-8 grades is a major change. It became clear to him how many more friends he had in the old high-school path vs. his current high school and it stung a bit. Just as he was lamenting this to me after the graduation ceremony, his girlfriend of three years surprised him by showing up. This was very well timed to make him realize he did make some incredible new relationships at this school. The other change, which I told him is 100% his decision, is that he is not going to the AA degree ceremony today. When he learned it would be about 3 hours long (and they usually run longer), he was burnt out. I get it and the attainment of the degree is what really matters, not some unknown dean handing you a blank piece of paper (most placed stopped trying to hand out the actual degrees decades ago given the number of errors). That decision invited me to be a bit more casual today. This was mostly a self-crafted outfit, and many items have a small pattern. I know this is not the normal approach to multiple patterns, so I very much invite feedback. The linen vest already had some fun creases before I got into the office, despite it having cotton in it. Alas... • Shirt — DS-032 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A classic CT Prince of Wales check in ocean blue with yellow and dark blue accents. The French cuffs with adjustable button add a touch of elegance, while the 5" point collar provides a perfect frame for today's tie. Cotton construction ensures all-day comfort through meetings and dinner alike.

OOTD - Thursday 11 June
Today is Thursday, so that is the day of the week I head into the office for work. Very cold overnight, still only 6 degrees on the way to work with quite a lot of fog around. I love the cooler weather as I am able to get my overcoats out and use them. I built this outfit around my new M.J. Bale Hemming Shirt is crafted from a premium 100% cotton in a bold Aqua and White Bengal stripe design. This is the first Bale shirt with a 2 piece yoke and they feel much nicer than the older shirts. Chose a charcoal suit and was having difficulty with which tie to wear so I asked ChatGPT and the suggestion of the Solid colour Burgundy tie was inspired. I had originally picked some black shoes and a black belt, but it came across as a little too formal with the shirt, so I switched it up to use my Oxford Wingtips and a Brown Strap. Altogether it looks terrific and I think the brown grounds and softens the outfit. I have added what I will post to Instagram, this is drones by using the post I put up for the Skool, I then take it to chatGPT and ask for a certain style and action to spin it into something the reads a little cleaner. For todays post I asked for something more informative with a fashion forward outcome, below is the result. “Thursdays are my in-office days, and this one arrived with a proper winter mood: 6°C, heavy fog, and the kind of chill that finally justifies reaching for an overcoat. Cooler weather is my favourite for exactly that reason—outerwear gets to be the main character. I built today’s look around a new M.J. Bale Hemming Shirt in 100% premium cotton, cut in a bold aqua-and-white Bengal stripe. It’s also the first Bale shirt I’ve owned with a two-piece yoke, and the difference is noticeable—cleaner structure, better drape, and a more refined feel than the older versions. To keep the shirt’s colour doing the talking, I anchored everything with a charcoal suit. The tie was the final decision point, and a solid burgundy ended up being the perfect call: modern, confident, and a great contrast against the aqua stripe without competing with it.

Shirt Sleeve Length... perfection?
Hi all, I have arms that fall between OTR shirt sleeve lengths: 35.25" - 35.3". While I am trying some bespoke dress shirts at this time, that's a longer-term solution. So, my tailor and I are beginning to adjust my shirt lengths. This is where my post comes in to play. There seems to be general agreement on the ideal shirt length, but there are variations. Copilot suggests the shirt should end either where the wrist meets the hand and "creases" or on or past the wrist bone. I have heard some suggest it is the middle of the wrist bone. ALSO, there seems to be agreement that French cuffs should end slightly lower (more towards the hand) than barrel cuffs. Now, I am understand that perfection is unobtainable. Of course, note that my profession is that of a measurement specialist in difficult to measure topics (e.g., depression). Moreover, I believe that part of my gentleman's journey is the pursuit of perfection, even when I know I will never get there. This duplicity is totally fine with me, as I believe striving for perfection drives us to continually learn, challenge ourselves, and grow beyond initial lessons learned on our path. I would love to hear where you all think the correct end of the shirt cuff should land. If it's precise, in your mind (e.g., exact middle of the wrist bone), please share that level of detail. If you firmly believe it is a range, please share that detail. I've put this as a survey, but really welcome the comments. Thank you all for your feedback.
