At around 60 minutes, the fragrance becomes warmer and more gourmand as woods and chocolate blend with the emerging sweetness of amber. The dry down settles into a smooth combination of chocolate, vanilla, and sweet amber, accented by lingering woods and a touch of spice. The result is warm and gourmand, with enough woody structure to keep the sweetness restrained. Overall, the fragrance transitions from spicy woods into a warm, gourmand blend of cacao, vanilla, and amber. Performance: Projection is fair, creating approximately a two-foot scent bubble for around two hours. Sillage is okay, leaving a 2+ foot trail for roughly two hours. But I digress… 😂 Today’s SOTD is one that captivated me years ago when I had a fragrance-of-the-month subscription. One sampling was enough—I knew eventually I needed the full bottle. Vide Cor Meum — Chris Collins Meaning “See My Heart,” the fragrance shares its name with the hauntingly beautiful aria composed by Patrick Cassidy and featured in Hannibal. This fragrance is spicy, floral, slightly sweet, earthy, and beautifully resinous. It opens green, citrusy and spicy, almost reminding me of a spiced mojito. From there, it transitions into a stupendous heart of rose, incense and woods. As those elements continue to linger, the fragrance gradually settles into a rich, resinous drydown with a smooth vanillic finish. What I love most is the evolution. It effortlessly changes throughout the wear, giving you something new to experience and look forward to as the hours pass. That kind of journey is exactly what I appreciate in perfumery.
