SOTD: Valentino Born In Roma Ivory
Finally got my hands on it! This opens with a crisp burst of bergamot, immediately giving an early boost of freshness. The heart transitions into a warm mix of lavender and a fireplace (smoky wood/fire) accord but I donāt really get too much of that at present, but either way both floral softness and a VERY subtle smoky depth. In the base, woody notes merge with lingering smoke, rounding out the composition with a cozy, warm trail. Projection is noticeable at first - strong ambient presence in the opening and heart - then gradually becomes more intimate as it settles. Longevity seems decent on me, lasts around 5-7 hours on my skin before fading into a skin close dry-down. Overall rating: 9.1/10. High rating for me as Valentino is currently my favourite house, I have now finally completed the Born In Roma line along with the limited editions, currently onto the original Uomo line now. This scent is just amazing to me, so soft and comforting, very milky/creamy/vanilla feel to it on the dry down with a slight masculine vibe hidden in there too. So, while thereās no explicit vanilla or milk note, the combination of the soft lavender + smooth woods + rounded smoke I believe tricks the nose into perceiving a creamy, milky texture. Either way I love it.
