SOTD: YSL La Nuit de L’Homme
This afternoon was my first time sampling YSL La Nuit de L’Homme, and I can immediately see why this fragrance became such a modern classic. Released in 2009 and created by Anne Flipo, Pierre Wargnye, and Dominique Ropion, it opens with cardamom and bergamot before moving into lavender, cedar, and vetiver. My first impression is that this is smoothness bottled. The cardamom gives it this warm, slightly spicy character that feels effortless rather than loud, and the lavender keeps it clean and classy. It’s masculine, soft, and incredibly easy to wear without smelling generic. I know people complain about the performance compared to older batches, and I can already tell it’s not a powerhouse. But honestly, the scent itself is so good that I kind of understand why people still love it. This feels tailor-made for evenings, dates, dinners out, or cooler weather when you want something understated and attractive rather than attention-grabbing.
