Dark & Mysterious Vibes
Cool air. Candlelight. Leather. A hint of smoke in the background. That’s the mood - the kind of setup where bold, dark fragrances come alive. The ones built for fall nights, late drives, and quiet confidence. (Think: oud, amber, incense, tobacco, smoky woods.) šŸ‘‰ Drop your pick below:Which scent would you add to this setup? Bonus points if you post your own moody flat-lay shot - candle, cologne, and character.

My little collection...
...is almost all grown up now. In fact, I've outgrown my display shelves, so I'm moving some to the bathroom (yeah yeah I know it's not good for the frags, but this bathroom is super well ventilated, it gets zero sunlight, and I'm only putting in my most worn frags that I'll burn through before they go bad): - One shelf for year-round daily grab 'n go dumb reaches (year round, I find myself reaching for Dior Homme 2020, Prada Luna Rossa Ocean EDT, and Armaf Mandarin Sky Elixir) - One shelf for seasonal daily grab 'n go dumb reaches (in cool weather, I find myself reaching for Boss Bottled Absolu, Lalique Ombre Noir, and TF Eau d'Ombre Leather) - One shelf for decants I'm testing and travel sprays I use most often when traveling I think I need a few more frags for the following categories: - one more warm spicy (I think I'd sell/trade Incense 01 to make room): top candidates are Blonde Amber or Sauvage Elixir, or maybe the new Micallef Nototious XO which I’ve been testing and is just delicious - one dumb reach sweet vanilla (I'd squeeze BB Absolu onto the display shelves and put the new one on my seasonal shelf): top candidates are MB Club Black; Superz Memories Gold; Boss Collection Exhilarating Vanilla (I got my nose on it in London this week and it seemed really good -- I need to see if I can find a decant); or maybe SWYI or TMWP - one more 3-season easy wear (I'd squeeze it onto the display shelves): this one is tough, thinking Superz Morocco or Smesh; Initio Rehab; Boss Bottled Beyond; or maybe Boss Collection Elegant Vetiver - I got my nose on this in London this week and if I can find a decant, I definitely want to give it a wear My collection is 3-season and cool weather heavy (I mean, here in the PNW we don't really get much summer) and any future purchases beyond the three I mentioned above would probably be warm/hot weather choices. But... I don't really *need* any more warm weather fragrances, and aside from the bottle categories I mentioned above, I think I might be done buying full bottles. With my crazy process of buying and battling decants, I can honestly say I absolutely love every single bottle I own, and there are literally hundreds of other frags that I've worn and found not to be as good for me as the ones I ended up buying.

SOTD Green Irish Tobacco by Happyland Studio
Today, my first ever wear from Happyland Studio was Green Irish Tobacco. This is thought to be a mash-up of Creed's GIT and TF Tobacco Vanille without the over-the-top aggression and projection. While I immediately pick up on the GIT reference, the TV wasn't quite there for me. It features top notes of tobacco leaf, lemon verbena, and violet leaf, with middle notes of spicy notes, woody notes, and dried fruits, and a base of vanilla and ambergris. That said, my first spray was a turn off (not being a fan of GIT), then I began to see the nuanced nature of adding the tobacco and dried fruit elements. For me, this is a much easier wear than both of the inspirations, less aggressive on the nose. While remaining undeniably green, the fragrance changes over time, becoming less green and smoother. It is masculine-leaning and not particularly sweet. My initial discomfort went away pretty quickly, and I kept smelling my wrist to get whiffs of the scent and appreciate how it evolved. This is a recommended try. It's noteworthy that this is a relatively small indie house that sells quality, affordable fragrances.

SOTD: Beach Walk by Maison Margiela 05/10/2025
Coming towards the end of the Replica memory box. All I can say is WOW. This is different, not what I expected. Designed to evoke the feeling of a leisurely stroll along a beach on a warm summer day, with notes of salty air, sun-warmed skin, and sunscreen. Beach Walk was launched in 2012. Beach Walk was created by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud & Marie Salamagne whom were responsable for the like of Afternoon Swim & By The Fireplace, respectivly. The opening is a bright, zesty blend of bergamot, pink pepper & lemon. This provides an initial burst of freshness that mimics the crisp, clean air of the coast. The citrus is not sharp or overpowering; it's airy & uplifting. As the fragrance settles, the core "beach" notes emerge. Ylang-ylang paired with a coconut milk accord take center stage. The ylang-ylang provides a tropical, slightly creamy floral scent, which is complemented by the smooth, sweet richness of coconut milk. This combination is what most people would associate with the scent of high-end sunscreen. The fragrance dries down to a soft, comforting blend of musk, cedarwood & benzoin. The musk gives it a skin-like quality, evoking the feeling of sun-warmed, slightly salty skin. The cedarwood adds a hint of woodsy warmth, while benzoin provides a subtle, resinous sweetness that grounds the entire composition. This performs ok, i get 6 hrs on skin, projection is like 2hrs at arms length before becoming a skin scent. But for me it makes up in feel good factor. This screams holiday/vacation time. Sun/Sea/Sand/Sunsreen & good vibes. it a must-try for anyone looking to add a touch of vacation to their daily life. My Rating: 5.5 Scent: 2 Longevity: 1.5 Sillage: 1 Y/N: 1
