Maison Margiela - Dancing on the Moon
Dancing on the Moon is that ā€œclean but differentā€ scent you wear when you’re tired of generic blue colognes but still want to smell fresh and approachable. It’s cool, airy, and floral‑musky in a way that feels confident on a guy, not perfumey or sweet. How do I describe this fragrance: Top: Think moon dust and cold chrome aldehydes that give a fizzy, metallic brightness, like stepping out into crisp night air. Heart: Iris, jasmine, frangipani; but instead of bouquet‑in‑your‑face, it’s soft, creamy, almost like a minimalist white‑floral filter over your skin. Base: Cashmeran, musk, ambergris; smooth woods, salty skin, and clean musk that make it feel very wearable and familiar if you already like fresh or gym‑friendly scents. If you’re used to clean musks, soft woods, or those easy ā€œskinā€ fragrances, this will slide right into your rotation. It just swaps citrus for a cool lunar sparkle and subtle florals. Performance: You’re looking at roughly 6–8 hours of wear, so it easily covers a workday or a night out without ever feeling heavy. The scent stays in a comfortable bubble around you: noticeable up close but never overpowering the room, which makes it safe for the office, dates, and those gym‑adjacent moments when you want to smell good but not loud. If you want a first step into florals that is still masculine‑friendly, imagine your usual clean musk and soft woody scent taken to an arthouse sci‑fi movie on the moon, still you, just quietly upgraded and a bit more interesting.

SOTD: Qannas by Le FalconeĀ 29/06/2026
Best described as an aromatic‑gourmand, this is my first from Le Falcone. Straight away you get exactly what this takes its inspiration from, apparently this was launched in 2023, but it's a new brand at my local Dubai Perfume Shop. It doesn’t carry a famous perfumer’s name, but it’s formulated to a high standard. It sits firmly in that bold, sweet‑spicy category that blew up in the 2010s, and while it’s built as a direct alternative to a well‑known mainstream scent, it stands well enough on its own merits. I went into it expecting just another clone, but it turned out to be one of the better‑balanced releases I’ve tried from a middle eastern brand. Breaking it down, the layers unfold clearly & smoothly. The top opens with bright crisp apple & bergamot, for a juicy, fresh kick that’s immediately warmed by a soft cinnamon & wild lavender combo. The spice is present but never sharp or burning, while the lavender adds a clean herbal edge to stop it from feeling too sugary right off the bat. Moving into the heart, orange blossom & lily of the valley take over; these soft white florals act as a perfect bridge, rounding out the opening energy & bringing a subtle creaminess without turning powdery or feminine. The base is where it settles & stays: rich creamy vanilla pairs with tonka bean too form the gourmand core, supported by golden amber with just a touch of soft patchouli. The patchouli is very light here, no heavy earth or ink. This addition grounds the sweetness and gives the whole composition depth & staying power. This is if you haven't already guessed a near‑perfect match for Ultra Male by JPG, sharing the exact same DNA of apple, cinnamon, vanilla & amber. The main difference is that Qannas feels cleaner & perhaps less cloying. It lacks that strong bubblegum‑like synthetic sweetness of the original. Performance is easily its strongest suit: it projects strongly for the first 3–4 hours, filling a room comfortably without being overwhelming, then settles into a rich, noticeable skin scent that lasts an easy 7hrs. It costs less than a third of what you’d pay for Ultra Male & date I say wears better in my experience, It’s ideal for evenings, cooler weather, nights out, or date nights reliable, great value, and exactly what you want from a clone that doesn’t cut corners. This one wins on price, but I find it hard to seperates the two.

Is Creed Still considered Niche?
I’ve thought on this a few times over the past couple of weeks and I’m still thinking lol is Creed still considered Niche? As many of you know The French beauty giant L’Oreal acquired Creed in April 2026 as part of its purchase of Kering BeautĆ©. Well, L’OrĆ©al doesn’t concentrate on just perfumery. They do makeup and who knows what else. In addition to that, I was always under the impression that Niche fragrances are done in smaller batch but I know that at least Aventus is mass produced in large industrial settings. Additionally, most Creed fragrances are readily available right next to designers in Macy’s, Dillards and several other department stores. What are the thoughts of the community on this?
