SOTD: Invictus EDT by Paco Rabanne 14/10/3025
A modern classic, released in 2013, it took not one but 4 perfumers to perfect thos iconic fragrance. With Its "trophy" bottle & bold, athletic marketing immediately set it apart. Veronique Nyberg, Anne Flipo, Olivier Polge and Dominique Ropion were the team and individualy they were responsable for some other well known fragrances, Eternity, Luna Rosa Ocean, Bleu de Chanel L'Exclusif & Flowerbomb respectively. My first step into the Invictus line was actually the Platinum flanker, which was soon followed by the equally delightfull Victory, before returning to the og. Invictus EDT is a "woody-fresh" fragrance with a clean, energetic & slightly sweet scent. It comes across as a bubblegum infused marine type scent. But here is also a duality of fresh & warm notes that give it, its attention-grabbing aroma. The fragrance opens with a vibrant, citrusy & fresh blast of grapefruit and a unique marine accord. This creates a powerful sense of freshness and energy. As the scent settles, a sweet, aromatic heart emerges with notes of bay leaf & jasmine. The bay leaf provides a slightly green, herbal spice, while the jasmine adds a subtle floral sweetness. The dry-down is where the fragrance gains its depth & warmth. It features a woody base of guaiac wood with a touch of a warm ambergris accord. This provides a subtly salty, musky, animalic nuance. It gives an overall impression of a sporty, clean scent that is mass-appealing. For an Eau de Toilette, Invictus offers impressive staying power, typically lasting anywhere from 6 to 8 hours on the skin. This makes it a reliable choice for a full day of wear. The fragrance has a powerful projection, especially in the first few hours. It can easily fill a room and leave a noticeable scent trail. While it can be worn year-round, its fresh and aquatic nature makes it particularly well-suited for spring and summer. It is an excellent choice for those new to fragrances or for anyone looking for a dependable and crowd-pleasing option.
