Snapshot Part 1
Just finished the first section of my ADHD Snapshot and realized something: the letter of encouragement I wrote to my younger self is exactly what I still need to hear today. I've been aiming all my compassion backward at a kid I can't reach, instead of at the person I am right now.
Dopamine, Oh Dopamine, Why for art thou Dopamine???
I was having a lovely run of sleep however I kept feeling a nigglying bit of irritation in the background. Took note and thought nothing of it till Wednesday night in bed when my mind was running a slide show that I had to really do some fancy steps to quiet down. Phew!! I figured out after Thursday’s q&a that this was the dopamine from the tv series I had started 2 days previous. Bound and determined to not watch it I cruised to within 30 minutes of my bedtime. Distracted by the chatter on Skool I joined in then headed to bed….. one hour later still trying to settle I drifted off only to be suddenly awakened by my neighbor. I couldn’t return to sleep till after 2pm. Friday morning I woke furious. After a lovely chat with JT I was able to confirm my suspicions and sort out legit anger and just BAT having a run of negative thoughts thrown at me. Hit my bedtime routine and was rewarded with …. “💡 Personal Insight Teri, you woke clear-eyed and well-rested, and you can feel it in everything: nine out of ten kind of morning, the kind your whole nervous system has been quietly building toward across seven steady days. What strikes me most in your reflection is that flash of self-respect, deciding to meet Mara at the gate, to keep the experience yours instead of handing it over to be claimed by someone else. That's not selfish. That's you finally learning to hold your own value instead of giving it away and waiting for credit that never comes.
