✨️ Mel's Sunday Shift: Week of Feb 01
🧠 Reflection Meal planning has been the focus of my Shift System in January and I want to keep digging deeper at it. And honestly? The quick, rough draft structure I built, it's been a game changer. I'm on menu week 4 this week. But I have a lot on my plate right now, so I don;t want to shift to a new systems I want to go deeper here as it's supporting me in a heavy season. Not just do the thing, but make the thing easier. I'm starting to map out where the friction lives. The small stuff. Finding spices. Wondering what we already have. The parts that slow me down before I even start cooking. Because meals is something we over and over again those frictions compound quickly. ✅ Good / Better / Best Goals - Good: Research what would actually reduce friction in my spice drawer, figure out what's working, what's not, what needs to change. - Better: Act on it. Buy what I need, set it up, make it happen. - Best: Next Sunday, I'm showing you a picture of my spice drawer. And I actually feel excited about it. - 🎯 Intentions for This Week → Tackle the spice drawer, it's the friction point I'm choosing this week → Keep asking where the slowdowns are in my meal planning system → Remember: small fixes in systems we repeat = real impact → Looping on topic/system discovers deeper levels of insight. Picture of your spice drawer for inspiration?!
UPDATE: Before and in progress... we had so many unlabelled spices lol No wonder the friction. I'm feeling this is going to lead to s lot less "Do we have .... spice?" And also i stead of a 2 minute search to find x spice. Seccccccccooooooonnnnnnnndddddddssssssd
Sunday Shift
Keeping it simple! Trying something new, instead of focusing on yoga as I used to, I want to focus now on walking. Good: 10,000 steps a day (in average) Best: 12,000 steps a day Best: 15,000 steps a day Trying to create systems that don't trigger a sense of perfection (and failure) to avoid creating rigidity and resistance. Walking for me is a pleasure so I hope it will work better (while also keeping the yoga a few times a week, without pressure). Also installed a cute app that simulates the Frodo's path from the Shire to Mount Doom, it makes me smile (big Lord of the ring fan here). Happy New Year everyone! I wish us all a year of health and self-discovery 💛
I hope your break was restorative and that your are enjoying your new semester! Welcome back.
How you stepping?
Sunday shift Feb
Sooooo my focus this month is on YouTube. And while this seems not related to health. It is because I need to be able to set boundaries again to do the work I like to do. My mental health was suffering from feeling like I was just supposed to do stuff for everyone else and me last. So Good: 1 hour to get ideas (1 hour total across the week) Better: 2 hours with some outlines (title/hook/thumbnail idea) Best: 3 hours and I actually film one
Sunday shift Feb
I see the relatedness. Identifying and working on the systems that impact our mental load / boundaries. Is a big deal. Love this goal for you 💯
What are you reading?
I was so moved by her first book. Anyone read this one by Malala Yousafzai?
What are you reading?

Shift Society Exclusive Video Drop Review of Glucose Goddess Hacks
I wanted to share something a little special with you. This is my very first Shift Society insiders-only video, and I want to start by thanking @Anya Grace Krasnov (if you have a question you can pitch a video idea here), who gently pulled me into a really interesting rabbit hole with one thoughtful question. That single question sparked a lot of ideas for me, and I think I’m going to sit with this topic for a bit cause blood sugar is an very important topic for metabolic health with or without PCOS. What I care about most with this kind of content is accessibility and clarity. Not more noise, not more “rules,” but a way to understand what we’re actually looking at and how to place it in context. I’m working on another video that will explore what the research tends to focus on when we talk about blood sugar, and how different recommendations stack up relative to each other. What Glucose Goddess and I agree on. Not a hacks list in the usual sense. For so many reasons that language doesn’t really fit my philosophy but more of a way to think about priorities and evidence without everything feeling equally urgent. But this one here is just for you. Shift Society is still very new, and you’re here early. Thank you for trusting me and for being part of these early conversations. In this video, I walk through my thoughts on the popular, international best selling author Glucose Goddess. What it’s based on, what question it’s actually answering, and where it fits within the bigger picture of metabolic health. After you watch, I’d love to hear your reflections.💛
@Lisa Kilby Thanks 🫶
@Hannah Snelling Glad it landed. Thanks for lettin me know 💞 Can't wait to make my next video on this topic. It's a nuanced conversation cause something doesn't need to be totally wrong for it NOT to be your next best move. And it's were I see people struggle order of things. My video this week are how I'd prioritize the research on this topic. I think you are going to like it :)
