SOTD 🍊 Versace Eros Flame
Hey brothers, first time posting here with a SOTD. It’s nearing the end of our summer here in New Zealand with Autumn around the corner so the mornings are getting brisker and the days and evenings are cooling down too. My go-to-grab lately has been one of the newer additions to my collection, Versace Eros Flame. Starts off with a burst of bright sharp citrus blended with a pepper spice, lots of beautiful mandarin notes right off the bat. The sharpness of the pepper and forefront of the mandarin steps back shortly after, with the other citrus’s starting to balance out. The rosemary for me is more of a mellow, warm-green, wood kindling/twigs that just introduces some of the woody base notes that come in later. After about 30mins to an hour the clean floral heart starts to blend with the citrus’s. The rose and geranium are brought forward on a cushioned bed of sweet vanilla and deep tonka that carry’s from the base upward. It’s not sickly and it’s not heavy, but it’s smooth and rich and like a soft blanket wrapping around the citrus top as the fragrance develops. Towards the 2-3 hour mark and onward, the scent profile develops more and the base notes start to make there mark. Warm, creamy sandalwood mixed with dry cedar is complimented with the decadent vanilla and grunty rich tonka bean. You can still catch some of citrus fruits lingering which is a nice addition when the breeze passes on a brisk Autumn day. Overall love this cologne and it’s a staple for me going into Autumn. This is my first SOTD post so please excuse my tangent or poor terminology 😅 I’m only going into the 2nd year of my fragrance journey so still building my collection and expanding my knowledge (which lead me here to this awesome brotherhood). Cheers for your time brothers, hope all are well out there 🤙🏼

SOTD: Oud Nude by Guerlain
Received this fragrance for valentines day and I simply love it. The opening is a subtle fruitiness which is coming from the Raspberry and a creaminess from the Almond. At 15 minutes the sweetness has settled significantly and I am starting to pick up some of the floral notes. Still getting some of the creaminess from the Almond. At 30 minutes I am getting a creamy Almond scent with some undertones of floral and some sweetness from the Vanilla. During the dry down I am picking up the woody notes but the are very subtle and soft and not overpowering like some Oud notes typ[ically are. This is such a well blended fragrance and it screams elegance. Performance: Projection is fair. This is not a projection beast fragrance by any means. The scent bubble is about 18" for about 90 minutes. The sillage is a little better with the fragrance trailing about 2 feet for about 90 minutes as well. Longevity is a different story. On my skin the fragrance lasts about 6 to 7 hours with it becoming a skin scent after about 3.5 hours. Layering Concept: I layered this with Cuir Beluga by Guerlain and the scent is simply devine.

Compliments and Longevity
Has the fragrance community as a whole become too overly obsessed with getting compliments and fragrances that last all day?

Seconding @Jonathan Ventura here. Definitely love when my partner complements my fragrance choice for that day or if my family and friends notice a good scent for the occasion. But it’s not the reason I wear and love my fragrances, it’s self indulging and for myself comfort + confidence. (Always got to make sure to be courteous of others/time/place/occasion etc. on choice of fragrance though) 👍🏼
