Jomashop Holiday Sale is a disappointment
I just got the email from Jomashop about their holiday sale - $10 off of orders over $180. That's barely 5% discount. Checking the prices, the sale price is what they offer all year round. Some examples: Fragrance World Liquid Brun 100mL: $45.99 - $10 coupon = $35.99, which is what I paid for it a few months ago. Armani Stronger With You Intensely 100mL: $118.99 - 20% sale coupon = 94.95, which is what I've been seeing it selling for on their website for the past year. Aura, when it's in stock, is $89.95, as a reference point for comparison. Xerjoff Naxos 100mL: $231.56 - 20% sale coupon = 185.25, which is what it usually goes for. The tester with a cap, on the same site, is selling for $154.99. It's regularly in the $175 - $190 range the rest of the year. FragranceNet has it for $192 year-round, and they are rarely the cheapest discounter. Hugo Boss Bottled Absolu 100mL: $158 - 24% sale price = $119.89. I usually see it for around the $75 - $90 range when in stock. I got mine last year for $56. Dozens more, it's the same thing. I use a price tracking app to watch these things, and it's eye-opening to see how misleading these sale prices can be. Some of them only amount to $5 or $10 off the regular price, but they manipulate the sale discounts to make it look like you are getting a better deal. Be careful shopping out there, guys. Don't let the FOMO or the rush of the season push you into buying something with a "deal" price that isn't really a deal. Take the time to check around and make sure you're actually getting a good price. These prices will come back around, and it's worth it to be patient. Make sure you are getting a good deal before you pull that trigger on your wallet.

I have always found fragrance.net to be the best discounter. Any other recommendations?
Baccarat Rouge and Creed Aventus
So my question is this…..admitting that the term “worth it” means something different to most people and admitting that everyone has different likes and dislikes when it comes to frags……are Baccarat Rouge and Creed Aventus worth the price tag? Do they blow all other frags out of the water and that warrants the price? I find it hard to believe that they are that much better than most others.
SOTD: Charuto Tobacco Vanille by Pendora Scents 20/10/2025
This is a bold, spicy, warm, yet sweet fragrance dominated by prominent notes of tobacco & vanilla. It's actually a Paris Corner release from 2021. A very affordable clone of Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanilla, I'd say 90-95%. Of the few clone/dupes of this that I've had my nose on this is my favourite too date. It opens up with a strong & spicy blast, dominated by the Tobacco Leaf note and other spices, But there is also a hint of a clove or a tea like aspect. Obviously the tobacco shines through here, it's a more refined dry leaf, it's really nice. As it develops, it becomes sweeter & creamier. The mid-notes include Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Tobacco Blossom & Cocoa. This is where the vanilla truly emerges, blending beautifully with the tobacco. The dry down introduces a touch of complexity with notes of Dried Fruits & Woody Notes, providing a long-lasting, warm finish. For a budget friendly clone, I paid like €24 for this, it's a great performer, lasting most of the day. It starts with a moderate to strong projection for the first hour or two before settling into a more intimate, yet present, scent cloud. In comparison, Charuto may have a slightly more prominent clove or dried fruit note, and the tobacco can be perceived as drier than the TF original. The main difference for most is the significantly lower price point. Best suited for colder weather. My Rating: 7/10 Scent: 2 Longevity: 2 Sillage: 2 Y/N: 1

Outside of the lack of longevity I find myself liking it more than TF sometimes

Just a dad in NY, navigating this crazy world with a wife, 3 daughters, and a female dog. Aside from a love for fragrance I am a lawncare nut!
