WOTD - July 6, 2026
Monterey Watch Company - EBC GMT with GMT hand set to the time in Brussels in honor of tonight's USA vs. Belgium game. Coincidentally for Blue Monday, a new blue nylon strap by Dassari. I bought the strap for a different watch but thought it would work on this watch too for a sort of red, white, and blue theme between the seconds and GMT hands, dial, and strap.

SSSSHHHHH, Don’t Tell My Wife
I’m slowly getting my wife to drink the horological Kool-Aid. 😄 After years of insisting her Apple Watch was appropriate for every occasion, I finally convinced her that maybe—even just maybe—a dinner date or special event deserves something with actual hands and a little soul. We went shopping and narrowed it down to a couple of Tissots and a Western-inspired Bulova. Then I explained the magic of extra straps: with a few quick strap swaps, those watches become seven different looks, plus she still has her Apple Watch for the gym and everyday notifications. I may have accidentally created another watch enthusiast… and I’m not even sorry. I think I’ll just get her all three—one for each of her three birthdays in July. (Don’t ask, that’s a completely different story).

Venezianico Bucintoro: Deal or No Deal?
Gentlemen, I’d like to get your thoughts on the Venezianico Bucintoro. Previously, my decision on whether or not to buy a watch came down to two decisions: a) price point b) looks. However, as my tastes have evolved, I know look at timepieces more critically, however, there is still so much I don’t know. Therefore, I’m soliciting your advice in this lovely chronograph made from a company I’ve never heard of. Is this worth the $2,285 price tag? The Venezianico Bucintoro.takes its name from the legendary ceremonial boat used by the Doge of Venice, reinterpreting the elegance of the Historical Regatta through watchmaking. Its design brings together speed, precision and tradition in a piece with a sporty character and refined presence. With a 42 mm case, domed sapphire crystal, 100-metre water resistance and a Japanese NE88 automatic chronograph movement with column wheel and vertical clutch, the Bucintoro is made for those looking for a technical watch without giving up the beauty of detail. A tribute to movement, water and time lived with style. https://www.google.com/search?q=Venezianico+Bucintoro.+reviews&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari&sei=jm1KapXlHti2qtsP0fXu0Ao#lfId=ChxjMe
