Good morning gents! Today I’ve put together my summer “go to” look. Im spending the day in Pollença town and with the sun beating down my old outfit would’ve been a plain white t shirt, flip flops and shorts. We can agree there’s nothing wrong with that, but there’s better options out there - particularly when we see those all the time. Here’s what I’ve assembled: - Collars and Co light blue polo - Charles Tyrwhitt linen stone shorts - Charles Tyrwhitt braided leather belt - Thursday loafers - Vincero watch (my favourite) - Straw trilby - Ray Ban black framed aviators It’s exciting seeing and feeling all these components work so well in the hot weather and they’re all genuinely comfortable and breathable. One thing I feel strongly about is when escorting our wives and girlfriends we need to show them respect. These days too many men don’t bother. I am not one of those men. I try to coordinate my outfit with my wife’s when ever we go out together. I ask Robin what she plans to wear and then coordinate to it. This morning I knew she was going to wear her lavender skirt with a lavender gingham blouse and purple fedora.I knew my lavender double breasted sports coat matches that skirt so that’s where I started. I wore a white dress dress.shirt with French cuffs and grey trousers u der it. From there the accessories included a vintage silk tie that was her father’s, blue derbies and blue straw fedora. What you don’t see is my socks match the jacket, plus I have on gold monkey paw cuff links and my Hamilton Boulton watch. Unfortunately we were not able to get a picture of us together. So gentlemen, make the effort to compliment your companion’s outfit with your own and make her shine.

Most of the time when I see guys in solid ties the combination strikes me as uninspired. It’s as if the guys is saying.:“ I don’t now how to pull this outfit together so I will just go with a solid color that matches something I am presently wearing”. To me a solid tie should be a bold accessory- not a boring matching item. Today’s OOTD I built outward from the tie which I’ve owned for nearly 40 years. One of my favorite solid tie combos utilizes various shades of green varying from emerald to a sage color. I also like it when there is a weave that gives it interest like a woven or knotted design, grenadine, or the cream linen as the one I chose today. I started with the tie, added the light tan Gaberdine wool trousers and to attempt to keep the color mix to three foundational colors, added a blue PoW shirt with a royal blue blazer. Socks are Panterella, shoes are Martin Dingman (as is the belt), and watch is a Wenger field watch.
