today, I did two intro activities. One was a teaser of the course. Students got 12 historical events we’re going to learn about, and they had to match them with 12 images. I also did an intro activity called “what’s in the pocket.” I giving a bunch of pictures of artifacts that were in in Lincoln’s pocket the night he died The students didn’t know what the artifacts were or whose pocket they belonged to. They had to try to figure it out from the artifacts. Both lessons were a huge success, and kids really liked having something hands-on, and something that prompted critical thinking. On exit slips, these were some of the comments: "I really enjoy your personality as a teacher, and how down to earth you are.
