Introducing myself!
Hey all! I'm Gaston, 44 (just last week!), posting from Sydney, Australia. I'm an IT Project Manager working mostly remote, which has been a double-edged sword: great for productivity, not so great for keeping me off the couch. Over time I've just gotten more and more sedentary, and last year was genuinely tough. I was eating mostly home-cooked meals but completely winging the nutrition side of things, telling myself I'd figure it out later. Well, later is now. My wife and I had a real conversation at the start of 2026 about what we each wanted to change, and for me it comes down to this: actually showing up. At the gym, for myself, and for her. I want to shift a lot of excess body fat that's been dragging down my energy and my mood, and I want lifting to become a regular part of my mental and emotional toolkit, not just something I dabble in. As for the death row meal... no hesitation. A slab of tira de asado (Argentine-style short ribs) with my own chimichurri, duck-fat roasted russet potatoes, and a simple salad. A few glasses of Marcel Lapierre Morgon to wash it all down (Beaujolais really does go with everything) and a slice of zesty lemon cheesecake to finish. Honestly, not a bad way to go! Looking forward to being part of this community!
Intro & Goals
Hello from Toronto, Canada! I ran the Tokyo Marathon last month and haven't done much since then. With a fractured toe and strained hamstring, I'm hoping I'll be able to build muscle and strength to prevent future injuries. Especially as I approach turning 50. Goals: Drink 8 cups of water daily, train for 10km run, train for 92km bike ride, build 3% muscle/lean mass and walk 10,000 steps daily. - Start food logging, run/bike, focus on strength training 3 times a week. - 8 weeks...then re-strategize as summer approaches. - "I am worthy and I will achieve my goals as long as it takes".
Perfect time to introduce Coach Kevin 🫡🏆
Allow me to formally introduce one of our BBB 1on1 coaches, @Kevin Teachanarong 🔥 He just competed in his first BJJ tournament and struck GOLD. And I remember our first conversation (with Coach @Tyler Lo too, who’s taking a break after a knee procedure) about joining Jiu Jitsu about a year ago — like, “Yaaa, I don’t know. I’ll just give it a go and see what happens”. Dude has been so consistent and disciplined ever since. And for the first time in his life, he got the taste of REAL competition. Literally another grown ass man trying to choke you out 😌 That feeling of adrenaline, fear, uncertainty — that’s a feeling not everyone gets to feel in their lifetime unless they do something really hard. And “hard” looks different for everyone. I met Kevin at my restaurant years back. We shared common interests like lifting weights and getting swoll 😆 I felt so much synergy that it was a no-brainer for me to ask him to join my coaching team. He’s helped over a hundred busy professionals achieve amazing body transformations, including @Valerie Frey and @Jennifer Crafton in this community. He will make a guest appearance soon on one of the live Q&A’s 🤜🤛 Say what’s up to Kev!
