Sometimes the greatest victories for wildlife happen before an animal ever needs to be rescued.

I'm excited to share that the Jaguar Rescue Center (JRC) in Costa Rica has been selected for Ma Earth Round 3, chosen from more than 800 conservation projects across 101 countries. This international recognition highlights the incredible impact of JRC's Shock-Free Zone Project, which is working to reduce wildlife electrocutions across Costa Rica's Caribbean corridor.

Founded in 2008, the Jaguar Rescue Center rescues, rehabilitates, and, whenever possible, returns injured and orphaned wildlife to the forests where they belong. But the team also recognized that rescue alone isn't enough if the same preventable injuries continue to happen.

Working alongside Costa Rica's national electricity provider (ICE) and the Ministry of Environment (MINAE), JRC has already:

⚡ Insulated 41 transformers

🌿 Protected more than 9 kilometers of primary and secondary power lines

🐒 Installed 17 wildlife rope bridges that reconnect fragmented habitat and provide safe passage for sloths, monkeys, and many other species.

For the next 8 days, supporters around the world have the opportunity to participate in Round 3 of the Ma Earth matching campaign. Every donation made through the Ma Earth platform to support Jaguar Rescue Center in Costa Rica helps unlock additional matching funds, allowing every gift to go even further in protecting wildlife.

This is one of the reasons I admire the Jaguar Rescue Center so much. They don't just heal injured animals—they work tirelessly to prevent those injuries from happening in the first place.
