SOTD - Lamasat by Nasm Al Rimal Al Maliky
I'm back home and I now have a chance to take a closer look at some of those quick buys I made on my trip. The back story on this one; We were walking through the Dubai Mall (that place is really something; MASSIVE aquarium, Olympic ice skating rink, 1,200 stores, etc) and walked by a shop on my way to Amouage that looked nice but I didn't stop in. That night on our way out to dinner, I noticed the same brand was being carried at a shop in our hotel, so I stopped in and QUICKLY picked up three bottles from this House just based on the initial sprays. The prices were so good, there was no real risk and the merchant was pretty high-end, so what the heck. IMO this is the best of the three, but that could change tomorrow. This is a very smooth, warm, ambery, soft, yet (very) powerful scent. This is very well blended, actually I think masterfully done. It's REALLY smooth. The opening is somewhat sweet but definitely ambery with honey. This is a warm, vanilla, cozy fragrance with ZERO bite. Smooth. By the way, it's an extrait. I hate to speak in superlatives, but this may be the smoothest fragrance I've experienced, especially given it's very reasonable price. The mid continues with the ambery, vanilla notes and you pick up some woody, sweet oudy notes. Now it's dawning on me that is is VERY MFK Grand Soir-like, but dare I say better? Well, I don't know about "better", but it's certainly going toe-to-toe with the MFK - easily. I will say this, Grand Soir is now off my "to buy list". After 2-3 hours, the dry down continues with that incredible amber-vanilla and I'm picking up a very light musk. I'm writing this at about 6-7 hours into it and the scent is still going quite well. The merchant mentioned that I'll easily get 12++ hours from this, and I see what he was talking about. This scent isn't going anywhere for a while. Again, it's a very high oil-rich concentration that would not be a good choice for extremely warm weather. This is not fresh or sporty, but much better suited for a mature crowd during evenings out, IMO. This is rich, luxurious... Damn!
