SOTD/Review: YSL Y Iced Cologne
Iâve wrote this with my opinion as well as a comparison to the EDP as I have heard a few say itâs just the EDP with mint. From the first spray, the mint hits with a crisp, air-conditioned freshness that feels energising rather than sweet, immediately separating it from Yves Saint Laurent Y Eau de Parfum, which opens with a juicy apple and ginger warmth. Where the EDP leans fruity, slightly sweet and rounded, Iced Cologne removes that sweetness entirely and focuses on clarity, coolness and lift. As it develops, the blue sage keeps that familiar Y aromatic backbone, while ambroxan gives it a modern projection boost and a clean, musky trail that lingers without turning heavy. Performance on me is strong for a fresh scent, I get a solid projection in the first couple of hours, followed by a steady, noticeable scent bubble, with 6-8 hours longevity on skin and longer on my clothes. I can see this being very mass appealing - the mint, clean woods and ambroxan are universally pleasing - making it extremely safe for work, daytime wear and warm weather. Compared to the EDP, itâll be less versatile across cold evenings but arguably better in spring and summer, especially in heat where the cooling effect will really shine. Overall, Y Iced Cologne doesnât replace the EDPâs all-round signature appeal, but it delivers a fresher, more invigorating alternative with impressive performance and easy compliment factor. I see this as quite underrated and will be a banger when the heat hits! Overall: 8.6/10
