Layering Laboratory
This post is inspired by Henry Clay's review of a DUA fragrance that mixes the DVA of D&G The One and 3M Jazz Club. Today, I decided to try layering Jazz Club by Maison Margiela with The One from Dolce & Gabbana, which promises richness on paper, and initially delivers exactly that—rum, tobacco, amber, and spice unfolding in dense, fragrant layers. Each scent brings depth and warmth, creating a bold opening that feels plush and evening-ready. However, as the wear progresses, their individual identities begin to clash rather than harmonize, with neither fully yielding space to the other. In the final analysis, both are excellent on their own, but when layered, they compete for dominance instead of complementing one another, ultimately diluting what makes each fragrance special.

SOTD: Magnitoud by Savoir Faire
Happy Saturday Fragrance Family. We have made it to the 7th and final day of Black Owned Fragrance Week, and what a great experience it has been recognizing the African American contribution to perfumery and the fantastic blends they continue to create. It has truly been a week of discovery, appreciation, and pride in artistry and culture expressed through scent. My scent of the day is one of my favorites from the house of Savoir Faire and the creative mind of Chris Classic — Magnitoud. This is a beautiful approach to the oud accord, blended seamlessly with spices, woods, vanilla, and just a hint of musk. I have reviewed this one previously, so all I will say today is don’t sleep on this masterpiece. Enjoy your Saturday, stay safe, smell amazing, and be blessed.
