The Fragrance Wardrobe - Do You Need Sauvage Extrait
https://youtube.com/shorts/Z9GadzdA0CA?is=l21TmyzWiqTq-dKi Hey everyone, I know it’s common to simply share a link, but I want to challenge you. The next time you share a video or article, take a few minutes to write about why it connected with you and what prompted you to share it. That’s what brotherhood is about. It’s about sharing our experiences, perspectives and lessons with one another, not just dropping a random link with a one-sentence question to farm likes or engagement. This video connected with me because it captures where I am in my fragrance journey almost perfectly. Early on, if I smelled something I liked, I immediately wanted the full bottle. That mindset helped my collection grow to more than 200 bottles, but eventually I had to start asking a different question. It’s no longer just, “Does this smell amazing?” It’s, “When would I actually choose this over everything I already own?” If something is immediately full-bottle worthy, I’ll still buy it. But if it smells amazing without creating that immediate need to own the bottle, I’ll usually pick up a 5–10 ml decant instead. That gives me plenty to wear and enjoy without adding another bottle that may spend most of its life sitting on a shelf. I’ve even started applying that same standard to bottles I already own. If I haven’t worn something in a while, or I can think of at least two other fragrances I’d choose before it for the same situation or scent profile, I’ll consider keeping a 10 ml decant for myself and selling the rest of the bottle. For me, this is a big step. I’ve talked in previous posts about the concept of building a fragrance wardrobe, where everything has a purpose and a reason to be there. There are still certain houses I genuinely enjoy collecting, but for everything else, this is the approach I’m trying to take. I’m not trying to stop experiencing new fragrances or eliminate everything from my collection. I’m becoming more intentional about how much of each fragrance I actually need. A fragrance can be amazing without earning permanent full-bottle space in my wardrobe.

They even had matching bars of soap and a bottle of body lotion that was the best of the bunch

What's the Ideal Collection Size (For You)?
There have several interesting threads recently about collecting fragrances and philosophies behind collections. I'm only about two years into my own journey and have been buying new bottles regularly. (I think I have 42 or 43 bottles now.) And I've been thinking about trying to design an ideal (for me) fragrance wardrobe of 28 bottles: seven for each season. So just a quick poll: what's the ideal collection size for you? And if you'd like to explain in the comments, even better. Thanks, gentlemen.
