Fragrance Review - Rabanne 1 Million Black
The fragrance opens with a bright wave of sweet citrus and subtle spice, creating an energetic yet inviting introduction. There is warmth beneath the freshness, hinting at the sweeter gourmand character waiting to emerge. At around 15 minutes, the citrus takes on a distinctly juicy pineapple character, while the initial spiciness begins to soften. A delicate touch of vanilla appears underneath, adding a creamy sweetness that beautifully rounds the tropical freshness. By 30 minutes, coconut and vanilla begin moving confidently into the foreground. The coconut brings a smooth tropical creaminess, while the vanilla adds richness and warmth, gradually transforming the fragrance from bright and fruity into something far more indulgent. At around 60 minutes, the transformation is complete. The pineapple has largely faded, leaving behind a delicious vanilla and coconut gourmand accord that feels creamy, sweet, and effortlessly seductive. The drydown settles into a rich sweet vanilla, supported by subtle woods that provide structure and balance. A lingering whisper of coconut remains in the background, adding just enough tropical character to recall the fragrance’s earlier stages. Overall, this fragrance evolves beautifully from juicy pineapple and spice into creamy coconut, warm vanilla, and soft woods. Tropical at first, gourmand at heart, and seductive in the drydown. Performance: Projection is good, creating approximately a 3+ foot scent bubble for over three hours. Sillage is equally impressive, leaving a noticeable 4+ foot scent trail for around three hours. Longevity is great, lasting approximately 9–10 hours on my skin and becoming a skin scent at around the four-hour mark. My Rating: 8/10

Falling out of love…
So as the cooler weather approaches, I’ve started wearing some of my old favorites that I haven’t touched in months and months. I’m also trying to close in on my “final collection” and I’m systematically selling off bottles I just don’t reach for anymore or where I feel I found better alternatives. So we had a particularly cool day last week here in Seattle and I thought it would be a great time to throw on some Oud for Greatness. When I first tested this one, I burned through a decant and loved it enough to buy a bottle. I haven’t worn it that many times since, but when I have, I really loved it – including a solo beast mode night where I sprayed it on pretty heavily and just sat in a deliciously nuclear scent bubble. Well, when I threw it on last week, I really really really didn’t like it. Like, at all. I was so surprised, but I found it sour and barnyardy challenging in a way that I really didn’t appreciate. I’ve recently been battling some decants that I like far more that would fit the rich, spicy woody cool weather category and so I think I need to flip my bottle. I can’t believe it, but I fell out of love with OFG. What I’ve noticed in my journey is I really don’t do well with challenging fragrances - it’s not like I need my collection to be 100% crowdpleasing designers, but I’m finding that where things are challenging I really just don’t want to reach for them. So I’m thinking OFG has gots to go. Has anyone else had this happen?
