Scent Room Dallas Part Deaux
I'm in Dallas this weekend for a photography shoot fest with some cosplay models that I work with, and got here a little early. I stopped by The Scent Room just to see what they had and to get a chance to smell some really hard to find niche fragrances that I would otherwise have to blind buy. I set myself a budget, and I'm trying very hard to stick to it. So I can only buy one of the two 1). The Hellenist Ć lāOmbre d'ArtĆ©mis (I'm just going to call it Hellenist because I'm not typing that over and over): it's one of the most stunning scents I've ever smelled. It's a summer / spring rose and fig that's bright, fresh, and airy with a woody green backbone. They were kind enough to let me fully spray myself with it before leaving the store, so i feel like I got a good test of it. I met up with the cosplayers for dinner, and got multiple compliments asking who's perfume it was, and when they figured out it was me, I got a lot of jaw drops and questions about what I was wearing. I'm smitten, and I definitely want to buy this. BUUUUUTTTT the store only has it in the 100mL bottles, and after tax it would be around $250. I can get a 15mL bottle on LuckyScent for $55. 2). Stora Skuggan Monkeyflower: I'm a big fan of the brand. Hexensalbe from the same brand is one of my top 10 all time favorites. I went there specifically with the intent to buy this. The bottle presentation is absolutely stunning, and I want this as much for the bottle as for the fragrance itself. it's also a summer / spring floral and fig with a woody base, but leans more towards the green aspects without any sweet fruits BUUUUUUTTTTTT, it's $180 for 30mL, and with tax, it would come in at just under $200. That would make it among the most expensive per mL that I have ever bought, and I'm afraid that I would not use it because of how expensive it is, and I wouldn't want to waste it. Both fragrances are a bit fleeting. Monkeyflower lasted about 6 hours on my skin, with the first hour being anosmic, and the projection, once I was able to pick it up, being fairly moderate. I could smell it at arm's length, but it was only one spray, and underneath a heavier test spray of the Hellenist. Hellenist had a similar lifespan, but better projection. Both are very similar - floral, fig, green, woody, summer / spring scents with a bit of a powdery texture. Both have beautiful bottles, but there is a big discrepency in price.
