Dental Care Question
I'm going to be starting to brush my teeth once before bed time which for me is around 7am (3rd shifter here on 12 hour shifts at work) and once in the afternoon after my gym workout or if it is an off day before my day starts in the afternoon. So I'm going to start brushing twice because I've noticed some of my teeth near gum line are starting to look like they may need fillings soon. I'm starting to think that leaving the fruit sugars on my teeth for damn near 24 hours before I brush again isn't a good strategy. What does anybody think about this? How often do you brush your teeth? I also use flouride free toothpaste Tom's of Maine and Tom's of Maine Mouthwash too I think they are some of the least toxic harmful brands out there. What toothpaste and mouthwash do you use?

@Derek Crans -- Some recommend using a waterpik or other irrigator right after eating especially sweet or acid fruit. I would do what is necessary to keep my teeth cavity free (without use of unnecessary chemicals), if possible. We only get one of each in our adult life.

At least once a day for me because food gets stuck in between my teeth. Sorry that you're in so much pain. If the waterpik is too painful, you can try swishing with water after eating acidic fruits or try chewing on a stick of celery / cucumber. I hope everything improves over time. I personally have found that I need to eat greens and supplement a little vitamin D to help my overall bone health. But you can test your bone health if you choose to get concrete data.
What are some of the negative consequences to long term eating salt/starches at dinner?
Since 2009 I have had fruit for breakfast and lunch most days. I have gone for months doing 100% 80/10/10 raw vegan. In the last 8 years or so I have pretty consistently had starch for dinner. I have never been mindful of salt intake. Long term, can this cause our body to hold on to much more water because we hydrate with water as well as have fruit/juice all day and then having a salty volume of starch at night? I know you don't promote eating or salt starch here.

No judgement from me @Terra Cathey. I have my weaknesses too. I think it's great that you are trying to change your diet back to a better one. I can easily gain weight if I had raw dried fruits or nuts. I'm not encouraging that diet, but if you find yourself losing weight and need to gain weight, that's an option. Also, smoothies or green smoothies could be options to explore for getting more minerals or calories in. Wishing you improved health with each healthful choice and change. 🌻

Those voices encouraging people to eat animal products will always be there. It takes a lot of resistance to remain vegan in this world. I have fortunately learned to build that resistance. Health is a journey, and eating fruits and veggies is a treat. I hope you enjoy the journey and the treats along the way. I am not the best person to advise on weight loss. I'm not overweight, but I have never been underweight either, even on a raw diet. So, I look forward to hearing the advice of others or hearing what you end up learning along your journey. Blessings to you dear.
Strong cravings for vegetables
Hey I have been suffering from lots of ailments for many years, many attempts to go raw that didn’t go well, etc. One thing I noticed is that every time I choose to give up salt and attempt to apply a raw diet, I crave vegetables badly, specifically celery and tomatoes. I can eat 3kg of celery a day as well as 2-3 kg of tomatoes. I crave it more than fruits. (That being said, this amount of celery makes me really gassy and have a negative impact on my body odor). Has anyone experienced such strong cravings, and if so, did they go away? I always end up giving up and going back to salt and cooked food cause it just feels like unreasonable amounts. Now, I could possibly push through and sayisfy my cravings if I knew this was gonna last 1-4 weeks for example and then subside, but if these are the amounts I’m gonna have to eat every day, as well as suffer the consequences of eating this excessive amount of celery, in order to meet my electrolyte needs… Then I find it extremely unsustainable in every possible way - financially, practically and physically. Would appreciate any advice or insight on the topic. Thanks!

Hi there! If you're not craving fruit, cucumbers can be an alternative. Green (Granny Smith) apples are also a less sweet fruit. It also takes your digestion some time to adjust to the vegetable fiber. Sometimes the gas could be from other foods you ate, before you ate the veggies, that are slow to digest causing fermentation.
Emotional Healing
Being about 5 months in on my raw vegan 80/10/10 journey I've improved so much of my life! It is insane growth I'm simply amazed. I'm still working out the fermentation and toxins I ate in the past so stomach still feels a bit knotted up but started taking probiotic two days ago so that too I think will improve. My daughter who is now 20 lives with me and now that I'm starting to feel more connected with emotions I feel I'm better able to express emotions and develop more of a positive relationship with her which makes me happy. My emotions with taking lexapro for so many years have been dormant and I've been numb and unable to feel much for years now though it seems overwhelming to have all emotions at the forefront. May have to find a therapist online to help sort things out but I do feel my best life is ahead of me.

Triglycerides?
I have a client who's eating lots of fruit and says his triglycerides are going up??? Any advice on why this is happening?

Could be due to eating lots of sweet fruit late at night and not exercising (or not enough) but couldn't tell you definitely.
