Adenomyosis and coeliac disease
Good evening all, Happy Friday! Bit of a weird thing happened today, would be interested to hear your insight please? In the last couple of years I have been diagnosed with coeliac disease and adenomyosis (similar to endometriosis). As a result, I have gained some weight but also suffer with bloating some of the time. A male colleague spoke to me today after his female colleague had asked him if I was pregnant. The way he worded it was quite… blunt, and upsetting but he didn’t mean to cause offence (it really did though!!). Firstly, does anyone else also have adeno? Secondly, what’s everyone’s top tips for not being bloated? I don’t know whether to say something to the female colleague regarding ā€˜women supporting women’ or explain that my medical conditions cause the bloating. Or even to add that due to the adeno, I may struggle to conceive, so whichever way you look at it, his and her comments were super hurtful. It’s made me cry a couple of times since, and I just feel… glum šŸ˜” Why are people so mean?! Sorry for the long post… xx

Thanks the same, HollyšŸ’ž Oh yeah, our beloved female bodies really knows how to put us up for a fight - or several… I’ve got low metabolism after a thyroid gland-operation, lipedema - and most probably both ibs and fibromyalgia on top of that. I’ve had stomach trouble since forever, but never thought of coeliac - until a random bloodtest showed sky-high levels. The bloating is better, but far from good. But working on it🤪 So yes, I think my bloating is due to a mix of all my conditions, but after the non-gluten diet it is of course much better. Do not miss the pain from adenomyosis, that’s for sure😊

@Katie York Here in Norway, lipedema does not have a diagnosis code yet (research is currently underway), but I was "diagnosed" by a surgeon with expertise in lymphedema/lipedema. So, here in Norway you either have to make an appointment with a surgeon or a physiotherapist with the right expertise to get «diagnosed» and further help - if you are lucky enough to live in the right health region.... And yes - in Norway there are also many woman who struggle with not being heard or seen when it comes to lipedema, unfortunately. It all depends on which professional you meet...
Chickpea bread recipe
Just wanted to share that I tried this "chickpea only" bread recipe I saw on YouTube and it turned out surprisingly delicious. Here's how it works: - soak 200g chickpeas in water overnight (or a few hours at least) - drain the chickpeas and put in a blender with 180ml of water - blend until the chickpeas are completely pureed - add 25g linseeds, 40g psyllium husk powder, 5g salt, 1 and a half tsp baking powder, 3/4 tsp baking soda, 1 and a half tbsp lemon juice - blend again - scoop the dough out of the blender and put it onto a sheet of non-stick baking paper. - it's surprisingly easy to work the dough and make it into a nicely shaped loaf of bread - bake in the oven at 180° celsius for 50 minutes I didn't think it would rise, as it has no yeast, but actually, it did! And it really tasted delicious! Even my non-coeliac 13-year old, relatively picky son loved it! The only problem I have with chickpeas is that I have huge trouble digesting them. They really give me gas and bloating... not nice! So even though I love them, I don't use them often and I guess I won't be making that loaf often because of this - but I recommend it to anyone who doesn't struggle digesting chickpeas! It's really good!

Keto bread!
Hi everyone! I tried out another surprising bread recipe and it turned out really good, so thought I'd share. This is a keto gluten free bread recipe I saw on YouTube (Ela Vegan channel). It basically has zero carbs - which I didn't think was possible for bread! I was doubtful this would work, but it did! You need: - 240g whole golden flaxseeds - 40g psyllium husk powder - 2 tsp baking powder - 4g salt - 320ml hot water And here's how you make it: 1. Pre-heat your oven at 180°C - set it to fan heat 2. Grind the flaxseeds to a fine powder (I used my Thermomix, but I guess the best is to use a spice or coffee grinder) 3. Put the flaxseed powder in a bowl and add the psyllium husk powder, baking powder and salt. 4. Mix 5. Add the water and mix. I had to add about 2 tbsp of water as it was a bit too dry. 6. Form this into a bread and place on a non-stick baking paper 7. Bake for 50 minutes My bread almost tripled in size, it was quite impressive! It tastes really nice. The only thing I'd say is the texture is quite light. I like it but I prefer my usual loaves of gluten free bread that have a bit more "substance", if that makes sense. Anyway, hope this inspires someone! Definitely an easy loaf to make and it's great that it's without carbs.

Living with with family who aren’t GF
Hey, me againšŸ˜… Anyone who lives with family who aren’t Coeliac/GF? How do you operate? What is separate? Do you share cutlery? Air fryer if using inserts? How do you go to other families houses/ visit friends and eat where you don’t have your GF sanctuary… pans, utensils, plates, trays etc? Last thing… Anyone with Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH)?😩

I live with my husband and son, they both eat gluten. My husband has a big problem remembering how things has to work in the kitchen (I am 99.9% sure he has heavy adhd, so his brain has a hard time prosessing this new and important info…). The few times he’s making dinner, I allways has to ask about the ingredients, how he prepared them, what pan and utensils he used….++ Our son has dia1, so he has his own challenges in the daily life, but that makes him more aware of my needs too. At my parents there is no problem, my mother is more eager trying out recipes than I am, and knows how to make my day easier. At other friends I often end up not eating, or I bring my own food/snax. I think its tough to be the one who allways has to ask how the meal is prepared, what ingredients has been used and so on…
