Barriers to the Fragrance Hobby: "Social Media Pressure – Comparison Culture" (6/6)
The last major barrier I see getting into this hobby is definitely gotta be from social media!! Scroll long enough and you’ll see 300-bottle backdrops, weekly “must-have” lists and declarations that something is either legendary or trash. Algorithms reward intensity. Nuance doesn’t trend as well. Comparison is subtle but powerful. A modest, well-curated collection can suddenly feel inadequate when measured against highlight reels. The danger isn’t inspiration fellas, it’s pressure. The best antidote, I believe, is intentionality. Define your own goals. Maybe it’s ten fragrances that cover every season. Maybe it’s slow, deliberate sampling. The hobby thrives when it’s personal, not performative. Everyone's #Journey is different, don't try and travel someone else's! What say you, guys? Has social media ever influenced a purchase you later questioned? How do you keep your collection aligned with your own taste? And are we building wardrobes… or filming auditions for “Hoarders: Eau de Edition” (Guilty!)? Love to hear from ya'! Continue the #Journey Part 1 Cost of Entry – The Velvet Rope Problem

I buy decants if most of my fragrances since I use so many, I have very few full bottles, but the scent I wear is Adventus, or some well blended version of it
Moving Past "that smells good" Level
I'd like to get some advice from the experienced members of this group. A recent comment from Derek Cook about wanting to move beyond the "that smells good" level of fragrance appreciation really resonated with me. My collection is nearing 100 bottles, but I realize I haven't moved past that point either. For those of you who have, how did you make that transition? I'd love to hear your thoughts and any tips you have for developing a more nuanced understanding of fragrances. Thanks in advance.

It happens when you truly wear fragrances just for yourself, knowing that no one else in the room, smells like you
twisted lily- legit?
found this cool website called twisted lily, which isn’t a discounter but a niche fragrance retailer. found it because i’m looking for samples for ganymede, which it offers. so asking yall, is it safe and legit?

We’ve been running the Deal of the Day in the group and I want to make sure we’re lining up fragrances you actually want to see. 👉 What perfume would you like featured next? Drop your pick in the comments - designer, niche, whatever you’ve been eyeing. Your input will help me choose the next round of DOTDs so you’re seeing scents that get you excited.
