Happy Saturday everyone, just wanted to share something. In another group I’m in someone shared something that’s been super sticky for me this week, and it’s to wake up with the practice of saying to yourself: “Something wonderful is about to happen to me today.”
It made me think about when i learned about cognitive bias. Okay I know that sounds like a fancy word but it’s just a research term for how our mind is biased toward things. One of the big ones is negativity. Evolutionarily that kept us safe, but in today’s world we’re surrounded by way too much information, and it’s easy to get stuck on the negative.
Think of it like this: negative stuff sticks like Velcro, and positive stuff can slide off like Teflon. So starting your day with this little mantra is a way to grow the good stuff. No day is ever only good or only bad, but the mantra helps counterbalance that negativity bias. It’s like putting on a filter so you notice the wonderful things more and in a way it’s a practice of gratitude.
I’ve been using it since I heard it and I’m liking it.
What do you guys think?
💛 Happy Saturday, post below something wonderful that’s happened to you today!
