Best Dressed Man in the Room
We attended an awards banquet for my church on Friday and I decided to go sans the jacket thinking I'd still be the best dressed man in the room. I'm in a non-denom church and flannel checks and rolled jeans is usually about as formal as it gets, except for me. Well, Pastor Dave one upped me and I told him so. Then I asked if I could get a pic with him for this post. He even did the pocket square. The jacket is a brown linen by Banana Republic, which is an underrated brand of jackets in my opinion.

Back to Basics - Watch of the Day
Today’s wrist time goes to my Heritor Automatic Becker (HERHR9601). Clean silver dial, simple black markers, and a classic date window at 3 o’clock. No flash, just a straightforward automatic that quietly does its job and feels right for a Monday reset. Sometimes it’s the uncomplicated pieces in the box that remind you why you love mechanical watches in the first place.

Travel outfit for a last-minute trip . . . Today I found myself on a flight to Guatemala City, accompanying seven kids whose parents were deported from the US in August. The folks doing the deporting made no provision for the kids, who were left stranded in Palm Beach County. No matter where you are on the political spectrum, this has to be recognized as heartless and deplorable. My sister works with a social service NGO that supports migrant farmworkers, which stepped in to care for the kinds and reunite them with their parents (again, without an ounce of help from the government). I went at my sister’s request as I’m a lawyer and a fast talker and those attributes could have come in handy in a pinch. Fortunately, we delivered the kids without incident and they are currently in a hired car driving back with their parents to their home village, seven hours to the north of Guatemala City. I’ll be back in Miami tomorrow. Polo Ralph Lauren lightweight window-pane sport coat; Apposta MTM button-up shirt with button-down collar, in a shade of blue I recently learned is called French; Ralph Lauren Purple Label brown cotton chinos; Isaia medium brown leather belt; Southern Scholar calf-length blue argyle socks; Magnanni leather walking shoes; Apple Watch Hermès Series 10 with Grand H stainless steel watch band; Irish linen flat cap from Hanna Hats of Donegal; Hermès cashmere and silk scarf (separate photo).
