Role Reversal
Two office days in a row, and for the first time I wore the same watch back-to-back. Same Heritor Automatic Becker. Same Montblanc Explorer. Same Allen Edmonds Courtside. AG jeans both days. LA roots for both me and the denim. Easy, intentional, no excess. The only shift was the polo. Brooks Brothers on day one, quiet. Robert Graham on day two, louder. That is when it flipped. My watch stopped changing. His started. For him, it was the first day-to-day watch swap in the office. We traded roles.

How the Sausage is made
Perhaps if some might like to hear how I construct an outfit. First I looked at the temps. Saw a slight rise to 43 degrees so I knew I don’t want flannel pants. Started with a window pane shirt and a wine zip front. Grabbed some charcoal Calvary twill pants. Thought perhaps I could go without a tie but a tie pulls things together so well typically plus a solid sweater allows for some interesting pattern matches so I grabbed one. Chose to go with a paisley that had the reds to mellow out the shirt/tie pattern mix. Then the last step was the coat. At first I thought I would go with a blue blazer but then I remembered the warp was black under a brown donegal so I grabbed my 30 year MTM tweed. Accessorized with a Pendleton sock, brown wool/silk paisley pocket square, shell cordovan British tan brogues and a model 5 Seiko. For the early morn cold I added a brown wool fedora In picked up in Verona, Italy in 2,000 and a Ralph Lauren cashmere scarf.

Very nice.
Dress-Down Done Right
This was a simple office day, executed with care. Merino wool knit polo in place of a button-down. AG straight-leg Japanese denim for structure. Allen Edmonds Courtside sneakers for comfort and polish. The Hamilton Pan Europ grounded the look. Sporty, restrained, and versatile. Dior Fahrenheit added depth. Leather, freshness, and personality, without overwhelming the room. Good style isn’t about dressing up. It’s about choosing pieces that work all day and still feel like you when you head home.

Thoughts on personal style...
Picking a personal style is not about chasing trends or reinventing yourself every season. It is about recognizing what you consistently return to and owning it with intention. Over time, I noticed that my choices kept circling the same principles. Clean silhouettes. Quality materials. Restraint. Clothes that feel settled rather than performative. That repetition was not accidental. It was evidence. Personal style shows up in what you trust when there is no audience to impress and no costume required. I have worked in and helped close six, seven, eight, and even nine digit sales, and I have presented at conferences where attention is earned, not demanded. What I learned early on is that owning a room has nothing to do with peacocking. It comes from your voice, your posture, and your calm. When you are put together without being loud, people focus on what you are saying and how you carry yourself, not on flash or bling. Clothes should support that presence, not compete with it. Clothes should also target the mission. A suit is great at a fine dining establishment. You do not wear it to the gym. Know your target and know your audience. Context matters. Dressing well is not about wearing the same thing everywhere. It is about choosing the right expression of yourself for the room you are walking into. Brothers, you can own a room. If you have not yet, it is something that can be learned. My style may sound odd to some, especially given that I wear a lot of John Varvatos, which many people think of as a rocker brand. But facts are facts. I choose the pieces for their fit, texture, and restraint, not for flash or hardware. I do not buy cheap clothes, and sometimes I will go a little overboard when a piece truly fits my standards. Other times, I am just as happy being a bargain hunter. The price is not the point. Intention is. I would describe my style as understated, intentional, and refined casual. Clean lines. Elevated basics. Very little flash. I want my clothes to stay out of the way so my presence can do the work.

@Darren Poesel being authentic to yourself, and intentionally so, is a rarity these days. And I am 100% behind it.
