It would be very easy on a Friday to mentally start the weekend a little early—to dress down, coast through the day, and tell myself that “good enough” is good enough. But one thing I’ve been thinking about quite a bit lately is how much I enjoy bringing intentionality into the ordinary parts of my life. Today that meant a soft pink shirt, light grey trousers, Margeaux patina shoes and belt, and my Panama for the trip in and out of the office. Nothing particularly formal. Nothing complicated. Just pieces I enjoy wearing, put together with a little thought. For me, dressing intentionally isn’t really about being dressed up. It’s about deciding how I want to show up before the day decides for me. I’ve found that same idea creeping into a lot of areas of my life—how I dress, how I care for my shoes and clothing, the little rituals I enjoy, how I spend my time, and even how I try to finish out a workweek. Friday doesn’t have to be a throwaway day. I can still enjoy it. I can still relax a little. I can still look forward to the weekend. But I also want to be fully present for the day I’m actually in. And apparently today, being present includes a Panama hat. 😎🎩 Happy Friday, gentlemen! 🎉
