Tempered Hard 2 Kill Community is happening in 17 days
Monday Starts
Monday. Pick the fight or let the week pick it for you. Today's task: one 20-minute walk, outside, no phone. Not for calories. For your nervous system. A lot of guys in this group are still running on a threat-response setting that never got switched off. Getting outside and moving without a screen in your hand is one of the fastest ways to actually downshift — not "relax," downshift, like taking your foot off the gas instead of riding the brake. Report back: did you get outside today, yes or no?

TEMPERED Is Here. First 100 Founding Members Ride Free
I've taken the summer break to think and build new stuff to make getting veterans harder to kill. The main thing I wanted to accomplish was to really lean into my teaching background. This may come as a surprise to some of the newbies here but I'm a high school science teacher with over a decade of experience in the field. Teaching is my true passion and I want to have a dedicated spot on the internet where I can let that flourish. That's why I created the TEMPERED Veteran Community on Skool. As a member, you'll be able to attend my LIVE workshops every two weeks. We're going to cover the topics that affect our community the most: ✅Chronic pain ✅Weight loss ✅Hormonal dysregulation ✅Brain injuries; and more The community won't be free like this one. Once we hit 100 members, it'll switch to paid. ➡️ So this is your opportunity. Be one of the original founders of the TEMPERED Veteran Community. You'll get free access for life and all future workshops. That's my thank you to you for being loyal supporters of VGFAF. But hurry. The first 100 spots will go quickly. 6 Workshops are already pre-loaded for you! ✅The Pain Protocol ✅The Deadly 3 ✅The Fat Loss Standard ✅The Burnout Reset ✅Still Dangerous Strength Plan ✅The Benefits Blueprint JOIN by clicking the link BELOW 👇 https://www.skool.com/the-armoury-8060/about Can't wait to see you there Dave

Something’s Coming
Something’s coming for the ones who are done coasting. Not a workout. Not a challenge. Something built to hold an edge, not just get sharp for a week and dull out again. Details drop tomorrow. If you know, you know.

August Starts for wins
Summer only has a few weeks left. When @Eric Hempstock joined this group and got back in the gym it was in August. He was soon down three belt notches. Here's the part most people would miss — the scale hasn't moved much. Muscle's coming back on as fast as the fat's coming off, so the number on the scale is lying to him. His belt isn't. This is exactly why we don't obsess over the scale in here. Weight is one data point. It's not the truth. If you've been staring at a stubborn number and thinking nothing's working, check your belt, check your clothes, check the mirror before you check the scale. Who else has a "the scale lied to me" win sitting in the comments?

Herniated disc flare-up
I thought I'd give an update on my current situation. It's more for sharing my experience in case it might help others. Day 1 (July 11): Aggravated my existing L4-L5 herniated disc after garage cleanup then bending/lifting awkwardly while fixing a drawer. Immediate back jolt/pop followed by severe spasms and difficulty moving. Needed help getting around. First flare-up since April 2026 (just before diagnosis of herniated disc by mri - previous flare-up in 2024 and 2025 but didn't know what it was). Day 2: Worst mobility day. Needed assistance getting out of bed and walking, but could move both legs and had no major new nerve symptoms. Days 3–5: Gradual improvement. Started walking regularly, moving independently, working short periods, and slowly increasing sitting/standing tolerance. Pain shifted from severe spasms to more manageable soreness/stiffness. Day 6: Felt much better but probably pushed sitting/activity a little too far, causing increased aching. Day 7: Had a small setback while putting on my left sock (bending/twisting triggered a sharp jolt). Moved back to rest, ice, and shorter activity periods. Set myself back by probably a few days Overall: Significant improvement compared to the first 48 hours. Still dealing with some low back pain and some left thigh numbness, but no new weakness or worsening nerve symptoms. Continuing gradual recovery and avoiding bending/lifting/twist ing for now. NOTE: Recovery from disc issues and flare-ups is a major mental - emotional game. Endless hours in my thoughts, wondering if there is a way forward or will this be a regular occurrence. I ordered a laptop table that I can use lying on a couch and still be somewhat productive.
