This is going to be an inaugural event folks. First time in Canada 🇨🇦 The American 🇺🇸 veterans here are probably tracking what this is - comment if you’ve experienced a silkie hike. To my Canadian veterans - you gotta experience this. We’re about to reshape how you experience veteran events. This is a moving party 🎉! We’re going to end veteran suicide through friendship, humour and community. Come one come all. Register early. https://irreverentwarriors.donordrive.com/montreal26

@Dave Morrow Glenn Fisher told me to show up anyway. 😂🤣😂😂 I won't. Promise.
I'm going to tell you something I've only ever said on the podcast.
Three years ago I was sitting at my keyboard building what I thought was the best veteran fitness program on the internet. Reps. Macros. A 3 day split. Sleep protocols. And it worked. Over a hundred veteran men coached. Over a thousand pounds gone. Chronic pain down across the board. I hated running it. Not because it failed. Because I finally admitted what it actually was. I was doing exactly what every other coach on the internet was doing, with combat stories sprinkled on top. So I did what any reasonable biochemist with a master's in education would do. I ate a shitload of mushrooms. I'm not writing this to sell you on psilocybin. I've covered that at length on the podcast. But somewhere in there, while I was busy contemplating my entire existence, something landed that I have never been able to shake. I'm not just a collection of cells working in beautiful harmony. That harmony is the essence of God. That experience brought me back to my Christianity. It also rewired what I understand my actual job to be. I'm not coaching veterans to get leaner. Veterans are seeking spiritual guidance more than anything after war. We disguise it as physical change. The body is the doorway. It was never the destination. I think about the veteran who tears up on a call when I ask them why they really want to lose the weight. It's never about the weight. It's about something that's been screaming to get out since the day they took the uniform off. They just never had words for it. So here's my question, and I want real answers. 👇 When you decided to get your health back, what were you actually chasing? Not the number on the scale. The thing underneath it. Harden Up. Dave

I think this has the potential to be complex. I grew up being bullied non-stop and also my mom was a "feminazi" who hated men, she told my sister and I that we were the reason she was overweight and she told us that stay at home moms were dumb, fat and all they did all day was watch soap operas. So I guess being fit is a rebellion against all of that. Please I learnt along the way from an early age that endurance sports (running, biking and swimming) can sustain you when you are under stress. Needless to say, many of the girls who bullied me are back in Nova Scotia and weigh between 200-250 lbs (very sad). 😂😂🤣 So who is the loser now??? You asked for honesty. Of course, later in life you realize the full benefits of maintaining fitness, better health, more endurance than my teenagers friends, healthy way to exert hyper-ness, etc.

@Dave Morrow and by the way I think you are really brave for making the above statement. I have always wondered why do so many USA vets like Shawn Ryan, the warrior poet (John Lovell), some of the Benghazi guys come out boldly as being Christians, etc...yet it almost seems like identifying as a Christian is poison in Canadian military, which I think is very sad.
