Asking for perspective
I have a bit of thoughts after my gym session this morning; a pair of men came, clearly friends. From their (loud) conversation I came to learn that they have not been working out for the past 1-2 weeks - cool, good on them for finally being able to come back - and they proceed to do their workout.
My curiosity being;
  1. If you can lift xx kg/lbs, surely you'd be able to put down the weights rather than just dropping them, right? Or the person is just lifting until no reserves left thus the release-and-drop?
  2. Is it advisable to go straight into heavy (i.e. the usual max weight) after being a potato for a whole week or potentially longer? Or really it's just "as long as they don't hurt themselves, it's all good?
