Life has been a bit chaotic, so I took some time to dial back from social media & my phone. The past week consisted of getting steps, or a lot less steps, or taking steps without any of my devices - just looking for some connection with myself and nature. Averaged 3.8K steps in the past week (and probably quite an amount unaccounted for). June is almost over - finish strong!
Growth thus far
1. I've added 2kg (~4lbs) to all my lifts - strength is progressing! 2. The muscle definition is lining up. It's so thrilling to see; like what is that mountain-valley in my arms? 3. I'm incorporating more walks/runs into my weekly routine - did my first 5-minute jog today (Pace: 6kmh/4mph - that's 10min/km or 16min/mile) 4. The weightscale has not moved and I'm a-okay about that. I'm getting stronger, I'm sleeping better. Some days feel a bit hard, but sweating it out makes it better. Other side quests: I have tickets to a BTS concert for end of this year and I'm crocheting an outfit for it. I have an Excel sheet going for the design; if the stereotype "Asians are good at math" remains, I'm slowly proving it wrong because the math to figure out the number of stitches is giving me a headache. Send help... 😒

Thank you! The crochet project gave me more headache in the math, now it's giving me hand & finger cramps. Fingerweight yarn is the way for the hot weather, but damn they hurt to work with...

In light of my own recent experience, what are your tips/advice for people to have a fun first-time experience with an ice bath? e.g. how to prepare for the session, what to expect, etc. Also to echo a now past sentiment, why do people do this (ice bath)? πŸ˜‚

I'm with you on the mindset. This is the designated meal time, and I'm going to have something to eat - say I had a heavy breakfast, by the usual lunch time, I'm not that hungry for a full meal, I will still have something light to eat. If I skipped lunch, then I'd be a bit extra hungry for dinner and potentially overeat then.
Of hormones & ice bath
The past week+ was all about cravings and sugar and low energy and not-so-nice sleep and a lot of feelings... and then there was blood and cramps. So yeah, I knew I wasn't weak, it was just the luteal phase. I foresee myself dialing it back for the next 1-2 days because my cycle really be killing me sometimes, but we'll see how I feel in the morning. The hormonal things I gotta live with πŸ₯² In other stories, I found myself remembering Coach Darren's Koh Samui vlog where the video showed them doing the ice bath - Gawin had asked "why do people do this?" Yeah, I asked myself that question while sitting in an ice bath. I would say it's worth trying ONCE in your life; just once, then decide again if you ever want to again. Wherever you are out there in the world, wishing you the best on your fitness adventure. You're achieving great things and will continue to achieve more. ❀️❀️❀️

Hahaha. For me, the ice bath hurts most in the nails/nail beds. Everywhere else felt okay - definitely make sure that there is someone to guide you through the process for your first time. It's quite enjoyable
