Why Do People Join My Group and Never Come Back?
If you run a Facebook group, membership, course community, or online community, you've probably asked yourself:
Why do people join and then disappear?
They were interested enough to click join.
Interested enough to give you their attention.
Interested enough to raise their hand.
Then...
Poof.
Gone like the leftovers you swore you'd eat later. 😂
Most community owners immediately assume people lost interest.
Maybe.
But I've learned that's rarely the first place I look.
Sometimes people leave because they never found their next step.
Sometimes they don't know what's expected.
Sometimes they walk into the room and can't figure out where they belong.
And sometimes... we really should be blaming the algorithm. 😂
Imagine walking into a party where everyone already knows each other.
Nobody is rude.
Nobody is mean.
But nobody invites you into the conversation either.
How long would you stay?
People stay where they can see themselves. Everything else comes after that.
