I manage a community that is mainly about improving your copy with peer to peer feedback. Here is the basic gist that I got from the several months I'm there learning with all the other roasters. - Your post needs a hook that stop the scroll (or make people click the notification if they already follow you)
- If you post regularly in a place, like here on classifieds or a specific social media, you need to try different hooks. People will stop clicking your posts if they keep seeing you post similar stuff everyday.
- Shock, humor or a clear value offering are stuff that makes people stop the scroll. Vary on those and experiment with what works best for you
2. Make people want to keep reading
- They clicked, now they need to actually read the thing instead of clicking out
- If the hook was humor keep them entertained, if the hook was shock subvert their expectations, if the hook was value actually deliver some in the copy intead of stalling till the CTA
- Don't undersell or oversell yourself. Talk about something that you can actually deliver, and if possible show some proof. One image/video speaks more than a whole book.
3. Make an offer that your ICP (ideal customer) can't refuse
- Make the CTA easy to get. Not just a "click here to join", but at least an action following that. What do people get after joining you? Tell people what they will get with the offer, don't leave the promisse vague. That makes people visualize themselves taking the action. A lot of times people don't click because you didn't make it clear what happens after they do.
- If your offer is honest and you really deliver what you promisse, than call the urgency on it. You won't have this level of avaiability forever. Your prices will increase. Those are not just marketing gimmicks they are a reality of a serious business builder. Be confident on the value that you're delivering and transmit that confidence on your CTAs.
Those are just some of the things I learned at the BBQ. You learn a lot by joining us at the grill. And it's also a great opportunity to help others and show what you're capable of.
