Most parents I work with already know what they're not "supposed" to say during meals.
"Just take a bite."
"You liked it yesterday."
"No dessert unless you eat."
"Pleeeeeeeeeeeease eat something."
The problem is that when you're worried, stressed, and staring at a child who hasn't eaten much all day...
your brain goes completely blank.
Parents ask me all the time:
"So what AM I supposed to say instead?"
Because sometimes changing a few words can completely change the feeling at the table over time.
Less pressure.
More connection.
More trust.
More opportunities for curiosity and food exploration.
