Here's a simple rehearsal tip.
Don't judge your performance by how much you move around the stage.
Judge it by whether your movement has a purpose.
Every step should support the story you're telling.
I've worked with singers who thought they needed to keep moving to hold the audience's attention. Once we removed the unnecessary movement, their performance became stronger, not weaker.
Sometimes the most powerful choice is to stay exactly where you are.
Try this during your next rehearsal.
Mark every place you plan to move.
Then ask yourself one question.
Why here?
If you can't answer it, the movement probably isn't helping the song.
Purpose always beats motion.
